NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section will be offered for sale by public auction for cash or on deferred payments at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, 6th October, 1937, at 2.30 o'clock p.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS RURAL LAND.
Southland County.—Town of Makarewa.
SECTION 3, Block IX : Area, 13 acres 1 rood 36 perches. Upset price, £200.
Weighted with £226 (to be paid in cash) for improvements comprising dwelling of four rooms and scullery, fitted with electric light, washhouse, wooden shed, cow-shed and separator room with concrete floor, coal-house and small wooden shed, eighty chains of fencing, ditching, shelter and garden, clearing and grassing.
This section is situated two miles from Makarewa Railway-station, one mile and a half from school and freezing-works. With the exception of half acre occupied by orchard and dwelling, whole area is in pasture. The land is subdivided into six paddocks and is suitable as a worker's home.

SECTION 1, Block XX : Area, 7 acres 2 roods. Upset price, £10 10s.
This section has a frontage of 5½ chains to Waimatuku Flat Road and 18½ chains to a side road. Approximately half the area has been damaged by the removal of shingle, the balance being covered in gorse, broom, &c. Area is suitable only to an adjoining owner.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.
State Forest Service,
Rotorua, 31st August, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Rotorua, at 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 17th day of September, 1937.
SCHEDULE.
ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
All the milling-timber on that area containing 382 acres, more or less, being part Blocks I and V, Rotoma Survey District (Provisional) State Forest No. 34, situated approximately 13 miles from Pongakawa Railway-station.

Lessee not to effect improvements without the prior consent of the Land Board.

Lessee not entitled to any compensation for improvements; but if the lease is not renewed upon expiration, or if it is sooner determined, the new lease offered for disposal by public competition will be subject to payment by the incoming tenant of valuation for improvements effected by the original lessee with the consent of the Board, and the amount so paid by the incoming tenant shall be paid to the original lessee without any deduction except for rent or other payment in arrear. Failing disposal, the land and all improvements revert to the Crown without compensation.

Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum to be paid on rent in arrear.

Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 1st September, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 p.m. on Friday, 8th October, 1937.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 12th October, 1937, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, amount of improvement loading, and proportionate part of insurance premium.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Waimate County.—Waimate Survey District.—Waimate Settlement.
(Exempt from payment of rent for two years).*
SECTION 7, Block XIV : Area, 13 acres and 27 perches. Capital value, £195†. Half-yearly rent, £4 17s. 6d.
Weighted with £55 (to be paid in cash) for improvements comprising two-roomed dwelling, well, drains, and 28 chains of party and subdivisional fencing.
This property is situated on an unnamed road off Queen Street and Gorge Road and is distant one mile and a half from Waimate Post-office, School, and Railway-station. Access is by good metalled road. The land is mostly flat, subdivided into five paddocks, and is watered by a creek and well, the soil being of medium loam, resting on clay formation. The property is suitable for mixed farming and small fruitgrowing.
*After the prescribed deposit has been paid, an exemption from the payment of rent for two years will be granted provided that improvements to an equivalent value are effected to the satisfaction of the Land Board.
†Included in the capital value of £195 is the value of certain fencing which remains the property of the Crown.
