to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Malvern, as from the 17th day of August, 1937.

Ernest Baden Anderson,

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Otaki, as from the 1st day of December, 1936.

Warwick Bell,

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Riverton, as from the 24th day of August, 1937.

David Davies,

to be Gaoler of the Gisborne Prison under section 5 of the Prisons Act, 1908, as from the 1st day of July, 1937.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Taumarunui Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

TAUMARUNUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Taumarunui taken on the 25th day of August, 1937, on the proposal of the Taumarunui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £2,300 for the purpose of purchasing the Taumarunui Racecourse situated at Manunui—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 163
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 102
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Revoking a Warrant declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities and declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of Section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport does hereby revoke the Warrant which declares certain areas within Waikato County to be closely populated localities, which is dated the 3rd day of February, 1937, and which is published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10 of the 11th day of February, 1937, at page 393, and does hereby declare the respective areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.


SCHEDULE.

Situated within Waikato County—

All that area adjoining the Great South Road from a point 6 chains south of the bridge over the Mangawara River to a point 12 chains south of the junction of the Great South Road and Taupiri–Morrinsville Main Highway No. 493.

All that area adjoining Taupiri–Morrinsville Main Highway No. 493 from the junction of the said main highway and the Great South Road to a point 10 chains south-west of the bridge over the Komakorau Stream.

All that area adjoining River Road from a point opposite the Fairfield Bridge over the Waikato River to the Hamilton Borough boundary.

Classification of Road in Wanganui County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare that the road described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Wanganui County shall belong to the class of road shown in the said Schedule.


SCHEDULE.

WANGANUI COUNTY.

ROAD classified in Class Five: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 3 tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 4½ tons :—

Wanganui River (Left Bank) Main Highway No. 559 (all that portion within Wanganui County).
