Regulations as to Drainage and Plumbing under the Health Act, 1920, applied to the Kaitaia Town District.

Wellington, 8th January, 1937.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council made on the 3rd day of September, 1923, and gazetted on the 6th day of the same month, regulations (to be cited as “the Drainage and Plumbing Regulations”) were made under the Health Act, 1920, prescribing the conditions to be observed in the construction of approved drains, septic tanks, sanitary conveniences, and sanitary appliances :

And whereas by the said regulations it was provided that the same were suspended as provided in the said Act :

And whereas by section 133 of the said Act it is enacted that the operation of any such regulation may, if so provided therein, be wholly suspended until they are applied by the Minister by notice in the Gazette to any part of New Zealand :

Now, therefore, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Health, in exercise of the power and authority given by the said regulations and by section 133 of the said Act, do hereby apply the said regulations to

The Kaitaia Town District

and do hereby declare that this notice shall take effect on the 1st February, 1937.

I, WILLIAM IRVINE, Chairman of the Edendale Town Board, do hereby declare that the result of the poll on the proposal to raise a special loan of £300 under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, for the purpose of acquiring the freehold of the Edendale Town Hall, taken at Edendale aforesaid on the 15th of December, 1936, was as follows :—

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Cambridge of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Cambridge, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigars, cigarettes, and smoking-requisites —be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of February, 1937, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exception : On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is not prohibited :

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 8th October, 1931, prohibiting the sale within the Borough of Cambridge of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Combined District of Cambridge and Leamington, comprising the Borough of Cambridge and the Town District of Leamington, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said combined district :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of February, 1937, all the said shops within the said combined district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exception : On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour :

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) mercer, (3) clothier, (4) boot-seller, and (5) furnisher within the Borough of Gisborne pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of February, 1937, all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 8.30 p.m. :

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th March, 1920, fixing closing hours of (1) boot-importers’, (2) grocers’, (3) drapers’, (4) upholsterers and cabinetmakers’, (5) tailors’, (6) jewellers’, and (7) saddlers’ shops in the Borough of Gisborne shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
