Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Matamata of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Fruiterer.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Matamata, has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a fruiterer—namely, fresh and preserved fruit (other than jam) and vegetables—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of August, 1937, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is not prohibited; and (2) on the Friday immediately preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, when such days fall on a Sunday or a Monday, the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Matamata pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of August, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evenings of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour; and (2) on the Friday immediately preceding Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, when any such day falls on a Sunday or a Monday, there shall be no fixed closing-hour.

Rangitaiki Rating Area.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1937, unpaid on 2nd August, 1937.

Rates may be paid at any money-order office, or to the Collector of Rates, Land Drainage Branch, Lands and Survey Department, Private Bag, Auckland, C. 1.

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the Native land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be called or known as the Opunake Development Scheme.

ALL that area of Native land containing 150 acres 0 roods 14 perches, situate in the Aotea Native Land Court District, and called Section 2, Block XII, Opunake Survey District, now known as Pukekohatu A Block, and being all the land in Certificate of Title, Volume 115, folio 141.
