H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to accept the resignation of Sub-Lieutenant Robin Montrose Messenger from the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand Division), to date 1st July, 1937.

H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments to the Royal New Zealand Air Force :—

George John Lawrence Taylor to be Flying Officer (on probation) and is appointed Accountant Officer, Royal New Zealand Air Force Flying Training School, Wigram Aerodrome, Christchurch. Dated 5th June, 1937.

William Glanville Woodward, B.E., to be Pilot Officer (on probation) for engineering duties, and is posted to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Flying Training School, Wigram Aerodrome, Christchurch, for flying training. Dated 8th June, 1937.

The undermentioned are appointed to short service commissions in the rank of Pilot Officer (on probation) and are posted to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Flying Training School, Wigram Aerodrome, Christchurch. Dated 8th June, 1937.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

Major K. L. Stewart, O.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Staff Officer-in-Charge No. 11 Regional District, and Brigade Major, 3rd N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade, Dunedin, dated 30th May, 1937, and is appointed temporarily General Staff Officer, Southern Command, Christchurch, dated 31st May, 1937.

Captain A. W. Greville, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Staff Officer-in-Charge (temp.) No. 11 Regimental District in addition to his present appointments. Dated 31st May, 1937.

Colonel Sir Stephen S. Allen, K.B.E., C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D., relinquishes command of the 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (a). Dated 31st May, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel N. L. Macky, M.C., A.D.C., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Colonel, and is appointed to command the 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade. Dated 1st June, 1937.

Major G. R. Cowie, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of the 17th Medium Battery, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 31st May, 1937.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Major T. McCarroll is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 1st June, 1937.

THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain W. R. Creeser, The Southland Regiment, ceases to be attached. Dated 24th May, 1937.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

The undermentioned officers are transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b):—

Captain A. G. Buchanan, 8th Field Battery. R.D. 12. Dated 24th May, 1937.

Lieutenant E. I. Henton, 3rd Field Battery, R.D. 1. Dated 27th May, 1937.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant R. C. Pemberton, 3rd Field Company, to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st June, 1937.

N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Captain G. H. Scull, E.D., relinquishes command of the Northern Depot and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 27th May, 1937.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

Captain W. J. B. Hunter, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the North Auckland Regiment. Dated 3rd June, 1937.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Captain W. J. B. Hunter, from The Hauraki Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 1st June, 1934, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 3rd June, 1937.

THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.

Lieutenant G. F. Pryce, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 3rd June, 1937.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Major E. H. Whiting, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 17th May, 1937.

Captain R. K. Gordon, 1st Battalion, to be Major. Dated 18th May, 1937.

2nd Lieutenant F. P. Koorey, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 24th May, 1937.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Captain R. C. Reed, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 27th May, 1937.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Captains:—

S. F. Hartnell. Dated 8th December, 1936.
R. W. Haddow, D.C.M. Dated 24th May, 1937.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant B. I. Bassett, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 28th May, 1937.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Captain W. R. Creeser, The Southland Regiment, is attached to the 1st Battalion. Dated 24th May, 1937.

THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

Captain W. R. Creeser ceases to be attached to The Otago Mounted Rifles and is attached to the 1st Battalion, The Otago Regiment. Dated 24th May, 1937.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) E. R. Chesterman, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

2nd Lieutenant I. E. Stock, 3rd Composite Company, to be Lieutenant. Dated 27th May, 1937.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain A. A. Tennent, M.B., attached to the 15th Heavy Battery, N.Z.A., to be Major. Dated 3rd November, 1936.
