Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare the respective areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Ashburton County-
All that area known as Allenton, bounded by a line commencing at the boundary of Ashburton Borough at the junction of Alford Forest Road with Town Belt Road and proceeding along Alford Forest Road to its junction with Farm Road, thence along Farm Road to its junction with Winters Road, thence along Winters Road to its junction with Allens Road, thence along Allens Road to its junction with Middle Road, thence along Middle Road to its junction with Belt Road, thence along Belt Road to its junction with Saunders Road, thence along the two portions of Saunders Road and their connection by Creek Road to the junction of Saunders Road with West Road, thence along West Road to its junction with Town Belt Road, thence along the boundary of Ashburton Borough by way of Town Belt Road to its junction with Alford Forest Road, the area being inclusive of the said roads and portions of roads to the extent above described.
All that area at Methven adjoining the portion of Main Highway No. 115, known as "Ashburton-Junction with Darfield-Arundel Main Highway," commencing at the junction of the main highway with Dolma Street, proceeding thence in a northerly direction, and terminating at its junction with Spaxton Street, a distance of approximately 64 chains.
All that area at Methven adjoining the portion of Ashburton-Methven-Alford Forest Main Highway No. 140, commencing at a point 20 chains measured along the highway in a south-easterly direction from its junction with Rakaia-Methven via Barrhill Main Highway, proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction and terminating at the junction of the main highway with Patton Street, a distance of approximately 50 chains.
All that area at Methven adjoining the portion of Rakaia-Methven via Barrhill Main Highway No. 279, commencing at the junction of the main highway with Holmes Street, proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction and terminating at the end of the main highway at its junction with Ashburton-Methven-Alford Forest Main Highway, a distance of approximately 10 chains.
All that area at Rakaia adjoining the portion of Christchurch-Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, commencing at the junction of the main highway with Rakaia Terrace, proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction and terminating at the junction of the main highway with South Town Belt, a distance of approximately 44 chains.
All that area at Rakaia adjoining the portion of Rakaia-Methven via Barrhill Main Highway No. 279, commencing at the junction of the main highway with Christchurch-Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction and terminating at a point 4 chains north-west of the junction of the main highway with West Town Belt, a distance of approximately 42 chains.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks XII and XVI, Waihou Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work-to wit, the construction of a road-and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Paeroa, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken 12 acres 2 roods 12 perches. Being portion of southern portion Opatito Block. Situated in Blocks XII and XVI, Waihou Survey District (Auckland R.D.) (Borough of Paeroa). (S.O. 29018.) In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 95927, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work-to wit, the construction of a road-and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Ohakune, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Situated in Block IV, Makotuku Survey District. (S.O. 3245.) In the Wellington Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 96086, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Road of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of the Town of Ashburton Extension No. 23 affecting parts Rural Sections 7862 and 8767, Block XIII, Ashburton Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Playfair Street shown therein should be of the width of 66 ft. Now, therefore, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying off of such road of a width of not less than 66 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle-line of such road.
