A PROCLAMATION.
I N pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor-General by the Marriage Act,
1908, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the existing marriage district known as the Wairau district,
and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore
comprised within the said district is hereby divided anew
into two marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof
shall be as follow :—

WAIRAU DISTRICT.
All that area in Marlborough Land District bounded
towards the north-east by the sea-coast where the range of
hills divide White's Bay from Robinhood Bay; thence in a
southerly direction generally along the sea-coast to the
mouth of the Awatere River; thence up the middle of that
river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of
Section 30, Block VIII, Clifford Bay Survey District; thence
to and along that boundary, along the middle of a public road
forming the north-western boundary of Section 31, along
the middle of a public road fronting Sections 29 and 28, along
the south-western and north-western boundaries of 4 of
Block I, the south-western boundaries of 6 of Block II,
15 of Block II, and 14 of Block II, along the south-eastern
boundaries of 14 of Block II, and 27 of Block II, to Boundary
Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to Maxwell
Pass, and down the middle of a tributary of the Taylor River
to the Taylor River at the base of a hill called the Maori;
thence along the western side of Taylor Pass Road to the
confluence of the Taylor Pass Creek with the Taylor River;
thence by that river to the nearest point to the south-western
corner of Section 44 of Block I, Omaka District; thence in a
westerly direction along the watershed between the Branch and
Blairich Rivers; thence in a southerly direction along Middle
Range to Mount Harkness; thence in a south-westerly
direction generally along the watershed between the Waihopi
and Awatere Rivers to Mount Pinnacle; thence along a
ridge in a westerly direction to Acheron Saddle; thence in a
north-westerly and south-westerly direction generally along a
ridge to Saxton Saddle; thence in a south-westerly direction
along a ridge intersecting a right line running from Trig.
Station Top No. 2 to Barefell Pass; thence in a north-westerly
direction along the said right line to Trig. Station Top No. 2;
thence in a north-easterly direction along the common
boundary of the Nelson and Marlborough Land Districts to Old
Man Peak; thence in an easterly direction generally through
Mounts Richmond, Fishtail, Baldy, Sunday, to Mount Riley;
thence north-easterly by a right line to Trig. Station LL;
thence by a right line in an easterly direction to Trig.
Station R; thence by a right line running easterly to the
sea-coast where the aforesaid range of hills divide White's
Bay from Robinhood Bay, the place of commencement.

SED DON DISTRICT.
All that area in the Marlborough Land District bounded as
follows : Commencing north-easterly at the mouth of the
Awatere River; thence in a southerly and south-westerly
direction along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Clarence
River; thence up the middle of the said river to its con-
fluence with the Ouse River; thence in a north-westerly
direction generally up a ridge to Mead Hill, to Black Mountain,
and to Mount Monro; thence along the Kaikoura Range to
its south-western extremity at a point on the prolongation of a
right line running from Trig. Station Top No. 2 to Barefell
Pass; thence north-westerly along the said right line to its
intersection with a ridge, being the westernmost point of the
southern boundary of the Wairau District hereinbefore
described; thence along the said southern boundary of the
Wairau district to the mouth of the Awatere River, the point
of commencement.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the first day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued
under the Seal of that Dominion, this 29th day of
May, 1937.
