Revoking Regulations prescribing Fees for Survey of Steamers used as Pleasure Yachts only.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 177 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Marine, do hereby revoke the regulations made on the 18th day of April, 1898, and published in the Gazette on the 21st day of the same month, at page 662, prescribing fees for survey of steamers used as pleasure yachts only.

ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, notice is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Methven Drainage Area of Ashburton County taken on the 20th May, 1937, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £8,000 for the installation of an underground drainage system in that area, the number of votes recorded was—

We therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops within the Borough of Rotorua.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops within the Borough of Rotorua has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing not later than the prescribed hour on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 5 p.m.:

And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 21st day of June, 1937, all the butchers’ shops within the Borough of Rotorua shall be closed accordingly.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiterers’ Shops within the Borough of Stratford.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Stratford pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:

And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 21st day of June, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: During the periods 1st January to 31st March (both days inclusive) and 1st October to 31st December (both days inclusive), on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8.30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 11.10 p.m. During the period 1st April to 30th September (both days inclusive), on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7.30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 11.10 p.m., with the following exceptions:—

(1) During the week in which the Stratford Poultry and Winter Show Association (Inc.) Winter Show is held, the hour of closing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday shall be 9 p.m.;

(2) During the period from 11th December to 5th January (both days inclusive), the hour of closing on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays shall be 9.30 p.m.;

(3) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed hour of closing;

(4) On the 26th December or the day observed as Boxing Day the hour of closing shall be 9 p.m.; and

(5) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday and the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, when such day falls on a Friday, the hour of closing shall be 11.10 p.m.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Timaru, the County of Levels, and the Claremont Riding of the County of Levels.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Timaru are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, by an Order in Council dated the 9th day of April, 1937, and published in New Zealand Gazette of the 15th day of April, 1937, at page 1003:

And also in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Levels, as affected by the said Order in Council, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto:

And in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Claremont Riding of the County of Levels, as affected by the said Order in Council, are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.
