to be a Gas-examiner for the purposes of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations, 1924, as from the 10th day of May, 1937.

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Kaitaia for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 10th day of May, 1937.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Nelson City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

CITY OF NELSON.

PROPOSAL of the Nelson City Council to raise a special loan of £7,250 for the purpose of purchasing Lots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Sections 234, 1144, 1145, 1138, and 238 of the City of Nelson as a site for municipal buildings : Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded for and against the above proposal at a poll of ratepayers taken on the 6th day of May, 1937, was as follows :—

Votes.
For the proposal .. .. .. 1,196
Against the proposal .. .. .. 831

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Proposal of the Nelson City Council to raise a special loan of £88,000 for the purposes of (1) making provision for an additional water-supply from the Roding River, and (2) extending and improving the city reticulation : Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded for and against the above proposal at a poll of ratepayers taken on the 6th day of May, 1937, was as follows :—

Notice as to Licensing the Manufacture of Wooden Heels for Footwear under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

——

PURSUANT to the authority conferred on me by section 14 of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936, I hereby give notice that the industry hereinafter specified may, on and after the taking effect of this notice, be carried on only pursuant to a license issued under Part III of the said Act. This notice shall take effect in accordance with the following provisions, namely :—

(a) In the case of persons who, on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette are lawfully engaged in carrying on business in the industry to which this notice relates, this notice shall take effect on the 1st day of December, 1938, or on such earlier or later date (if any) as may hereafter be specified by a further notice under the section hereinbefore referred to.

(b) In all other cases this notice shall take effect on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

The industry to which this notice relates is the following :—

The manufacture of wooden heels for footwear.

Applications for licenses required in accordance with this notice may be made to the Secretary of the Bureau of Industry, D.I.C. Buildings, Wellington.
