IT is hereby notified that the undermentioned persons have been appointed to be the Deputies of the Registrars of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the districts set respectively opposite their names, viz. :

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops within the Borough of Eastbourne.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of grocers’ shops within the Borough of Eastbourne pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 31st day of May, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions :—
(1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 6.30 p.m. and the closing-hour on Friday shall be 9 p.m. :
(2) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of grocers’ shops within the Combined Districts of Taumarunui and Manunui comprising the Borough of Taumarunui and the Town District of Manunui, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said combined districts :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 31st day of May, 1937, all the said shops within the said combined districts shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions :—
(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m. :
(2) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then, and in such case, the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 5 p.m., and on Friday 9 p.m. :
(3) When Anniversary Day, Good Friday, Anzac Day, or the birthday of the reigning Sovereign falls on a day upon which any shop may remain open until 9 p.m. in accordance with this notice, then, and in such case, the closing-hour for such shops on the working-day immediately preceding such day shall be 9 p.m.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Housing Purposes in the Borough of Greymouth.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes :
And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so to be taken is deposited in the office of the District Engineer of the Public Works Department at Greymouth, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land to be taken : 34 acres 0 roods 36 perches.
Being Section 230, Square 119, Block IV, Cobden Survey District.
Situated in the Borough of Greymouth.
In the Westland Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 95749, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough of Lower Hutt for the Purposes of a Public School.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a public school : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Lower Hutt, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
