IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed

Christopher McKae, of Akaroa,

to be an Inspector of Sea-fishing for the purposes of Part I of the first-mentioned Act.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

Lieutenant-Colonel E. Puttick, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, to be Colonel (vice Colonel J. E. Dugan, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, promoted), and remains seconded during the period of attachment at the War Office and Imperial Defence College. Dated 1st April, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. Miles, D.S.O., M.C., Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, Northern Command, dated 31st March, 1937, and is appointed to command temporarily the Northern Command with the rank of temporary Colonel while so employed, dated 1st April, 1937.

Major G. M. Burn, N.Z. Army Service Corps, relinquishes command of the 3rd Composite Company, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 1st April, 1937.

THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

Hugh Alfred Albert McCaskill to be Bandmaster, and is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 3rd March, 1937.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Hon. Captain G. L. Buckley, v.d., Retired List, to be Bandmaster, Artillery Band, Northern Command, and is granted the honorary rank of Captain, with seniority from 26th October, 1932. Dated 25th February, 1937.

Bandmaster (Hon. Lieutenant) A. W. E. Webb, from the Reserve of Officers, Queen Alexandra’s (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles, to be Bandmaster (Hon. Lieutenant), with seniority from 13th August, 1932, and is posted to the 3rd Artillery Brigade Group. Dated 2nd November, 1936.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF BANFFURLEY’S OWN).

Lieutenant E. C. Wooler, 3rd Cadet Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 15th April, 1937.

Lieutenant S. H. Johnson, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 21st April, 1937.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Lieutenant S. H. Johnson, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 12th September, 1932, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 21st April, 1937.

Harry Baker to be Bandmaster, 1st Battalion, and is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 1st December, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (on probation), 2nd Cadet Battalion, are confirmed:—

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Lieutenant G. J. Morrall, 1st Battalion, is appointed Quartermaster. Dated 1st October, 1936.

Lieutenant and Quartermaster G. J. Morrall, 1st Battalion, to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 1st March, 1937.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Captains. Dated 27th August, 1936:—

2nd Lieutenant C. A. Latimer, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st September, 1936.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Lieutenant A. B. Gladwin, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 23rd April, 1937.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

Captain E. P. Davis ceases to be posted to the 3rd Composite Company, and is posted to the 2nd Composite Company. Dated 23rd April, 1937.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Lieutenant A. L. Young, M.B., F.R.C.S. Edin., 2nd Field Ambulance, to be Captain. Dated 1st April, 1937.

Charles Marwood Mules, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached to the 1st Battalion, the North Auckland Regiment. Dated 19th April, 1937.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

The undermentioned to be Staff Nurses and are transferred to the Reserve List. Dated 18th February, 1937:—

Miss Irene Mary Henderson.
Miss Kathleen Hettie Spragg.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The Wellington Regiment.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. L. Evatt, v.d., is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 14th April, 1937.

Lieutenant R. D. Kirkpatrick is retired. Dated 14th April, 1937.
