SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LANDS.
Mangonui County.—Mangonui Survey District.—Akatera Block.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)
SECTION 8, Block XI : Area, 274 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £150 ; half-yearly rent, £3 15s.
Weighted with £12 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising shack 18 ft. by 11 ft. with lean-to roof (unlined), 6 chains of poor fencing, and ¼ acre in garden.
This section is situated on the main Mangonui-Kaeo Road, eleven miles from Mangonui Post-office, six miles from Totara North School, twelve miles from Whangaroa Dairy Factory by metalled road. Undulating to hilly and broken land covered in fern, tea-tree, akake, &c. Soil of clay on semi-volcanic formation ; well watered by running streams. General quality of section is poor. Altitude 300 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.
- This exemption is conditional upon the lessee effecting improvements to the value of £30 annually during the exemption period.

Hobson County.—Waipoua Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.*)
Section 15, Block XI : Area 148 acres 2 roods. Capital value £280† ; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
This section is situated adjoining the Trounson Kauri Park, on the Kaihu-Kauri Park Road, twenty-three miles from Dargaville by metalled road. Undulating to hilly country, about 40 acres being in rough grass, mostly native pasture, 10 acres in native bush, balance in fern and scrub. Soil of poor to fair quality clay resting on sandstone formation ; well watered by permanent creeks. Altitude 250 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.
- This exemption is conditional upon improvements to the value of £50 being effected annually during the exemption period.
† Improvements included in capital value consist of 40 acres of grassing, and ring-fencing in poor condition.

Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 27th April, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 24th May, 1937.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 26th May, 1937, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for* inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-book, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at the conclusion of the ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, deposit in reduction of improvement loading, and proportionate part of insurance on buildings.

SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Egmont County.—Cape Survey District.
(Native Land Settlement.)
SECTION 24, Block XIII : Area, 196 acres 3 roods 23 perches. Capital value, £170.* Deposit on deferred payments, £10 : Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £5 4s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, 24 5s.
- Includes the sum of £67 10s., being part valuation for fencing and stumping.
Weighted with £145 for improvements, comprising dwelling, cow-shed, implement-shed, 235 chains fencing, 15 acres clearing and stumping. This sum is payable in cash or £45 may be payable by half-yearly instalments of £3 17s. 10d. over a period of seven years, and the balance (£100) secured by first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation over a period of thirty years, with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection. Costs of preparation of the mortgage (£2 9s.) must be paid immediately an application is declared successful.
A grazing property situated on the Parihaka Road, three miles from the Pungarehu Post-office, School, and Dairy Factory, fifteen miles from the Opunake Railway-station, and five miles from the Rahotu Saleyards ; access is by metalled road from Pungarehu. Approximately 15 acres level, the balance undulating. When cleaned up a few dairy cows could be run on the front portion, but at present the section is badly infested with ragwort, blackberry, gorse, and St. John’s wort.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 8th June, 1937, at 1.30 o’clock p.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Loaded with the sum of £10 (to be paid in cash) for improvements, comprising fowlhouse and fencing.
This property, which is suitable for a worker’s home, is situated on Railway Street, about one mile from Winslow Post-office and Railway-station, &c., by grass road. Comprises light land, all flat and ploughable, soil being light and stony ; watered by Council race. Land is in worn-out pasture.
