Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

Wellington, 5th April, 1937.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Petone Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF PETONE.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers taken on the 24th day of March, 1937, on the proposal of the Petone Borough Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of developing and improving the Petone esplanade and foreshore by providing new or further bathing accommodation and otherwise as may be thought fit and to provide all labour, materials, and plant required for the above purpose the voting was as follows:—

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers taken on the 24th day of March, 1937, on the proposal of the Petone Borough Council to borrow the sum of £750 for the purpose of providing improved dressing accommodation and spectators’ stand at the McKenzie Baths and to provide all necessary labour, material, and plant for the purpose the voting was as follows:—

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers taken on the 24th day of March, 1937, on the proposal of the Petone Borough Council to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the purpose of building a grandstand in the Recreation Ground, to make alterations to the cycle track so as to permit the Rugby ground to be laid out north and south, and to improve and modernize the entrance at Kirk’s Avenue and to provide all materials, labour, and plant necessary for the purpose the voting was as follows:—

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of the County of Heathcote as at present constituted.

Classification of Roads in Mount Herbert County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby alter the Mount Herbert County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Mount Herbert County, and do hereby approve such altered classification as set forth in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

MOUNT HERBERT COUNTY.

ROADS classified in Class Three: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 10 tons:—

Main Highways.

Christchurch–Motukarara via Sumner and Lyttelton Main Highway No. 110 (all that portion within Mount Herbert County).
Christchurch – Governors Bay Main Highway No. 158 (all that portion within Mount Herbert County).
Port Levy – Little River Main Highway No. 198 (that portion within Mount Herbert County from its junction with Purau – Port Levy Road to Steel’s).
Tedding ton – Port Levy Main Highway No. 622 (all that portion within Mount Herbert County).

County Road.

Purau – Port Levy Road (all that portion from its junction with Teddington – Port Levy Main Highway at Purau to its junction with Port Levy – Little River Main Highway at Port Levy).

Appointing the Time and Place for the First Meeting of the Bay of Islands Electric-power Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Public Works, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the 21st day of April, 1937, at 10 o’clock a.m. as the time, and the Bay of Islands County Council Offices at Kawakawa as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Bay of Islands Electric-power Board.

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Pohangina County Council hereby resolves and declares by way of special order that Silybum (milk or variegated thistle), being a plant mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act, is a noxious weed within the County of Pohangina.
