Appointments in the Public Service.
Office of the Public Service Commissioners,

THE Public Service Commissioners have made the following appointments in the Public Service:
Thomas Hornsby Richardson,
to be an Inspector under the Dairy Industry Act, 1908, for the purpose of inspecting and examining any building, conveyance, or ship used for the storage or carriage of dairy-produce from any gazetted cool-store, as from the 10th day of February, 1937.
Charles Burton McNatty,
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Cambridge, and Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Cambridge, as from the 6th day of February, 1937.
Joseph Charles Corbishley,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Dannevirke, as from the 15th day of February, 1937.
Patrick Leo Lynch,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Riverton, as from the 15th day of February, 1937.
William Robert Joseph Montgomery,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Scaffolding and Excavation Act, 1922, as from the 12th day of February, 1937.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans
Wellington, 11th February, 1937.
THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Te Kuiti Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Te Kuiti, taken on the 3rd day of February, 1937, on the proposal of the Te Kuiti Borough Council to borrow the sum of five thousand pounds (£5,000) for the purpose of streets improvements, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 115, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 146.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Te Kuiti, taken on the 3rd day of February, 1937, on the proposal of the Te Kuiti Borough Council to borrow the sum of twenty-three thousand pounds (£23,000) for the purpose of waterworks improvements, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 91, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 168.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Whangaroa taken on the 27th day of January, 1937, on the proposals of the Whangaroa County Council to borrow the sum of £1,700 and £1,400 for the purpose of erecting County Offices and Public Hall respectively:

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, as to the Statutory Closing-day in the Combined District of Taumarunui and Manunui.
NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the chairman of the conference of delegates of all the local authorities of the combined district of Taumarunui and Manunui, as constituted for the purpose of that Act, and comprising the Borough of Taumarunui and the Town District of Manunui, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said combined district of Taumarunui and Manunui.

Notice as to Statutory Closing-days under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22
WHEREAS the Commissioners of the Borough of Thames and the County of Matakaoa, and the Mayors or Chairmen, as the case may be, of the local authorities of the other respective separate districts mentioned in the First Column of the Schedule hereto, have duly notified me that the days decided on as the statutory closing-days in their respective districts, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, are the days set opposite their respective names in the Second Column of the said Schedule:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the statutory closing-days for shops in the said respective districts on and from the 8th day of March, 1937.
