A sheep- and cattle-grazing property, situated on the Putikituna Road, five miles from Kohuratahi Post-office, Railway-station, and Saleyards, and six miles from Kohuratahi School. Access is by metalled road from Kohuratahi. This section, which is fairly steep and broken, is watered by streams, and the soil is light loam and papa resting on sandstone formation. It is subdivided into five paddocks.
Special condition.—The costs for the completion of the mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand must be paid immediately an application is declared successful.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Mapara Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.*)
Section 5, Block X: Area, 304 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £200; half-yearly rent, £4.
- After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and broken-period rent (if any), an exemption from payment of rent will be allowed for a period of five years provided improvements to the value of £20 are effected annually during the exemption period.
Weighted with £200 for improvements, comprising dwelling, two sheds, about 160 chains fencing, and 154 acres worn-out pasture. This amount may be secured by way of first mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection. A remission of the interest payable under the mortgage will be allowed for a period of two years provided additional improvements to the value of £20 are effected annually during the exemption period.
A poor grazing property, situated on the Ohirea Road, about three miles from Mangapehi Railway-station and School. Owing to a number of rhyolite bluffs, it would be impossible to carry out dairying. Badly infested with ragwort.

Ohura County.—Aria Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.*)
Section 24, Block XIV: Area, 727 acres. Capital value, £365; half-yearly rent, £7 6s.
- After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and broken-period rent (if any), an exemption from payment of rent will be allowed for a period of five years provided improvements to the value of £30 are effected annually during the exemption period.
Weighted with £525 for improvements, comprising dwelling, cow-byre and yards, approximately 200 chains fencing, and approximately 100 acres felled and grassed. This amount may be paid in cash or after payment of a deposit of £145 the balance—£380—may be secured by way of first mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection.
A grazing property, situated on the Rimu Road, one mile and a half from Nihoniho Post-office and Railway-station, and one mile from Nihoniho School. Access is from Nihoniho by one mile good metalled road and half a mile clay road.
This is a poor class of section, which contains about 6 acres of ploughable land. It comprises generally about 100 acres good pasture, 50 acres worn-out pasture, and 577 acres in natural state.
The property, which is subdivided into four paddocks, is watered by streams and springs, and the soil is light loam resting on mostly sandstone formation.
Special condition.—The costs for the completion of the mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand must be paid immediately an application is declared successful.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Auction.
State Forest Service,
Auckland, 28th January, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned milling-timber will be disposed of by public auction at the office of the State Forest Service, Auckland, at 2 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 14th February, 1936.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber branded and numbered on that piece of land containing 647 acres 2 roods, situate in Block IX, Hurakia Survey District, being part Sections 1, 2, and 3 of State Forest No. 97, about ten miles from Waimiha Railway-station.
The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 767,892, or in board feet 5,280,860, made up as follows:—

A block of tributary timber approximating 3,000,000 board feet in the State forest mentioned will be made available for sale to the purchaser of the timber now being offered at an appropriate time, at current stumpage rates.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-twelfth of the purchase-money, together with £1 1s. license fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance be paid in eleven equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid six months after the date of sale.
Terms and Conditions.

All instalment payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.

The attention of buyers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful bidder to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

Intending buyers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.
