Notice respecting Proposed Constitution of Borough of Opunake.

Wellington, 3rd December, 1936.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted as the Borough of Opunake:

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed constitution of such borough which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED AS THE BOROUGH OF OPUNAKE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, bounded on the south-west generally by the sea from the mouth of the Waiaua Stream to the mouth of the Otahi Stream; thence up the left bank of the Otahi Stream to the south-western boundary of Section 35, Block IX, Opunake Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of said Section 35 to the right bank of the Waiaua Stream, and down the right bank of that stream to the sea, the point of commencement.

Approval of Expenditure by Wellington City Council of Compensation - moneys under Thorndon Reclamation Act, 1921–22.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General in Council has been pleased, in terms of section 6 (4) of the Thorndon Reclamation Act, 1921–22, to approve of the expenditure by the Wellington City Council from the balance of the compensation-moneys held under that Act for the purpose of providing recreation facilities for the City of Wellington of the sum stated opposite the purpose specified hereunder:—

Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, are to be furnished.

Wellington, 1st December, 1936.

PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1936, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 1st day of March, 1937.

Constituting Recognized Aviation Authorities.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by section 3 of the Local Authorities Empowering (Aviation Encouragement) Act, 1929, I, Frederick Jones, Minister of Defence for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby recognize for the purposes of that Act the under-mentioned aviation authorities:—

Notice as to Area in Wellington Land District declared to be a Fire District.

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 2nd December, 1936.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I do hereby notify that on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of October in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—WELLINGTON FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

Tararua Forest Fire District.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, and the Kairanga, Pahiatua, Horowhenua, Eketahuna, Mauriceville, Masterton, Wairarapa South, Hutt, and Featherston Counties, containing approximately 216,551 acres, situated in Arawaru, Mangahao, Waiopehu, Tararua, Mikimiki, Taungata, Eritonga, Waiohine, and Tiffin Survey Districts, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the north-western corner of Section 9, Block IX, Mangahao Survey District; thence towards the south-east by Sections 9 and 12, Tainui Valley Road, Sections 22 and 23, Block IX, Mangahao Survey District, Naenae Road, Sections 22 and 21, Block XIII, Mangahao Survey District, Sections 1, 9, 2, and 3, Manawatu Road, and Sections 7 and 8, Block II, Tararua Survey District; towards the east and north by Mangahao South Road; towards the east and south-west by a road reserve along the Mangahao River and by the said river; again towards the south-east, a line across the said river, a reserve along the right bank of the said river, and by Sections 11, 13, 14, and 17, Block IV, Tararua Survey District; towards the north-east by Section 17 aforesaid; again towards the south-east by the Kakariki West Road, Sections 21A, 22, 24, 26, a road, and Section 27, Block IV aforesaid, by Sections 33, 35, and 38, Block VII, and Sections 42, 45, and 1, Block VI, Tararua Survey District; again towards the north-east by the said Section 1; again towards the south-east by Section 1, Block IX, Tararua Survey District; again towards the south-west by Section 3, Block IX aforesaid; again towards the south-east by Sections 3, 9, 6, 7, and 11, Block IX aforesaid; again towards the north-east by Section 11 aforesaid, a river-bank reserve, the crossing of the Mangatainoka Valley Road and Section 10, Block IX aforesaid; towards the north-west by Sections 10, 5, 4, 8, and 2, by Priests Road, again by the said Section 2, Block IX, Tararua Survey District, and by Sections 35, 36, and 37, Block X, Tararua Survey District; towards the east by Sections 24, 41, 39, 33, and 40, Block X aforesaid; again towards the south by Sections 29, 30, 32, and 34, Block XIV, Tararua Survey District, and Section 2, Block XIII, Tararua Survey District; again towards the south-east by Section 3, Block XIII aforesaid; again towards the north by Sections 3 and 1, Block XIII aforesaid; again towards the east by Sections 31 and 6, Block XIV, Tararua Survey District, and Section 9, Block IV, Mikimiki Survey District, and a public road; again towards the south by the Ruamahunga River; again towards the east and north by the Ruamahunga Gorge Road; again towards the east and north by Section 1, Block III, Mikimiki Survey District; again towards the east by Section 15, Te Mara Road, and Section 13, Block IV aforesaid; again towards the south by Sections 81, 82, and 83, Block VII, Mikimiki Survey Dis-
