Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE.

WILFRED GILLMAN HALL, Esquire, of Melbourne,
in the State of Victoria, a solicitor of the Supreme
Court of the State of Victoria, has this day been appointed by
the Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers, K.C.M.G., Chief
Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court
of New Zealand in the State of Victoria under the 47th section
of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering
and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in
the said section mentioned.

Makerua Drainage Board, is published in accordance
with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to Raise a Loan of £1,200.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of
the Makerua Drainage District taken on the 11th day of
November, 1936, on the proposal of the Makerua Drainage
Board to borrow the sum of one thousand two hundred
pounds for the purpose of widening and deepening Akers'
Drain, Lynch’s Drain, and Old Main Drain-

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 113
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 51

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Regulations as to Drainage and Plumbing under the Health Act,
1920, applied to the Warkworth Town District.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council made on the 3rd day
of September, 1923, and gazetted on the 6th day of
the same month, regulations (to be cited as “the Drainage
and Plumbing Regulations”) were made under the Health
Act, 1920, prescribing the conditions to be observed in the
construction of approved drains, septic tanks, sanitary conveniences, and sanitary appliances:

And whereas by the said regulations it was provided that
the same were suspended as provided in the said Act:

And whereas by section 133 of the said Act it is enacted
that the operation of any such regulation may, if so provided
therein, be wholly suspended until they are applied by the
Minister by notice in the Gazette to any part of New Zealand :

Now, therefore, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Health, in
exercise of the power and authority given by the said regulations and by section 133 of the said Act, do hereby apply
the said regulations to

The Warkworth Town District
and do hereby declare that this notice shall take effect on the
1st January, 1937.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists' Shops within
the Borough of New Plymouth.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded
to me from the occupiers of tobacconists' shops within
the Borough of New Plymouth pursuant to section 32 of the
Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22 :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I,
Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby
direct that on and after the 7th day of December, 1936, all
tobacconists' shops within the said borough shall be closed
in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays,
Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., on Wednesdays at
8 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m., with the following
exceptions-(1) On the working-day that first precedes any
of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning
of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, there
shall be no fixed closing-hour ; (2) from the 18th December
to the 7th January, and from the Monday preceding Good
Friday and up to the end of the week following Good Friday,
there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (3) should the occupier
of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to the
said Act, Monday as the statutory closing-day, then and in
such case the closing-hour on Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday shall be 5.30 p.m., on Friday 9.30 p.m., and on
Saturday 8 p.m.; (4) should the occupier of any shop affected
by this notice observe, pursuant to the said Act, Tuesday as
the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closinghour on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday shall be 5.30 p.m.,
on Friday 9.30 p.m., and on Saturday 8 p.m.; (5) should the
occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant
to the said Act, Wednesday as the statutory closing-day,
then and in such case the closing-hour on Monday, Tuesday,
and Thursday shall be 5.30 p.m., on Friday 9.30 p.m., and on
Saturday 8 p.m.; (6) should the occupier of any shop affected
by this notice observe, pursuant to the said Act, Thursday
as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closinghour on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday shall be 5.30 p.m.,
on Friday 9.30 p.m., and Saturday 8 p.m.; (7) should the
occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant
to the said Act, Friday as the statutory closing-day, then
and in such case the closing-hour on Monday, Tuesday, and
Thursday shall be 5.30 p.m., on Wednesday 9.30 p.m., and on
Saturday 8 p.m.:

The notice dated the 5th March, 1928, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the 8th March, 1928, fixing the closinghours of all the tobacconists' shops in the said borough shall
be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming
into operation of this notice :

And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than
two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists' shops within the
said borough, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section
25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other
shops within the said borough in which smoking requisites
are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set out herein
for tobacconists' shops.
