Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Motueka Harbour Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

MOTUEKA HARBOUR BOARD.

IN pursuance of the terms of the Motueka Harbour Act, 1905, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, and the Act amending the same respectively, notice is hereby given that the result of the poll held on the 30th day of September, 1936, on the proposal to raise a loan of £5,000 for the purpose of the construction of works for the restoration of the channel at the Harbour of Motueka was as follows:—

Votes.
For the proposal . . . . 239
Against the proposal . . . . 147

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried by not less than three-fifths of the valid votes recorded at the poll.

BOROUGH OF ALEXANDRA.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Alexandra taken on the 23rd day of October, 1936, on the proposal of the Alexandra Borough Council to borrow the sum of seven thousand pounds (£7,000) for the purpose of installing sewers—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . 96
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 12
The number of informal votes was . . . . . . 1

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Alexandra taken on the 23rd day of October, 1936, on the proposal of the Alexandra Borough Council to borrow the sum of one thousand pounds (£1,000) for the purpose of making advances to ratepayers for the purpose of connecting premises with sewers—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . 98
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 11

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Application to New Zealand of the Laws of the Federated Malay States regarding the Resealing of Probates and Letters of Administration.

THE following order applying the provisions of an enactment of the Federated Malay States to the Dominion of New Zealand is published for general information.

FEDERATED MALAY STATES.

THE PROBATE AND ADMINISTRATION ENACTMENT (CHAPTER 8 OF THE REVISED EDITION).

Order applying the Provisions of Chapter XVII to the Dominion of New Zealand.

WHEREAS the High Commissioner is satisfied that the Legislature of the Dominion of New Zealand has made adequate provision for the recognition there of probates and letters of administration granted by the Supreme Court of the Federated Malay States: Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon the Chief Secretary by section 158 (ii) of the Probate and Administration Enactment (Cap. 8) and by virtue of the Chief Secretary (Devolution of Powers) Enactment, 1936, the High Commissioner hereby orders that the provisions of Chapter XVII of the said enactment shall apply to the Dominion of New Zealand. Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936.—Disallowance of By-law.

PURSUANT to section 11 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, being of opinion that the subject-matter of a certain by-law—namely, the clause numbered 823 (relating to maximum speed) of the by-law made by the Lower Hutt Borough Council, the short title of which is “The Council of the Borough of Lower Hutt By-law No. 1,” and which was declared to come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1928—should not be dealt with otherwise than by regulations of general application made under the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, do hereby disallow the said clause numbered 823, and do hereby declare that such disallowance shall take effect on the day of the publication of this notice of disallowance in the Gazette.
