Notice of Intention to take Land for the Purposes of an Agricultural Laboratory in the Borough of Mount Albert.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of an agricultural laboratory—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Mount Albert, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 16 acres 2 roods.

Being part Allotment 42, Titirangi Parish.

Situated in Block IV, Titirangi Survey District (Borough of Mount Albert).

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 93890, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 21st day of October, 1936.

Approval of a Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931.

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve until further notice of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the local authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Declaring a certain Service for Carriage of Goods by Motor-vehicle to constitute a Goods-service.

PURSUANT to clause 21 of the Applied Provisions of the Transport (Goods) Order, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that any service by a motor-vehicle owned by or hired from or to or operated by or for Victor Lewis Shuter, of Auckland, Carrier, for the carriage of goods (whether for hire or reward or not) between the City of Auckland and the Borough of Taumarunui or over any portions of the Number One Main Highway or the Number Twenty-three Main Highway between those towns, shall be deemed for the purposes of the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, and the Applied Provisions of the Transport (Goods) Order, 1936, to be a goods-service within the meaning of the said Act and the said provisions.

With reference to my predecessor’s Circular despatch C. No. 184 of the 1st October, 1935, I have the honour to transmit the accompanying copies of a circular issued by the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament regarding nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize for 1937.

  1. It would be appreciated if the conditions of the prize could be made known to those bodies and persons who are qualified to nominate candidates.

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

ALL proposals of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, which is to be distributed 10th December, 1937, must, in order to be taken into consideration, be laid before the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament by a duly qualified person before the first of February of the same year.

Any one of the following persons is held to be duly qualified: (a) Members and late members of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, as well as the advisers appointed at the Norwegian Nobel Institute; (b) Members of Parliament and Members of Government of the different States, as well as Members of the Interparliamentary Union; (c) Members of the International Arbitration Court at the Hague; (d) Members of the Council of the International Peace Bureau; (e) Members and Associates of the Institute of International Law; (f) University Professors of Political Science and of Law, of History, and of Philosophy; and (g) persons who have received the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize may also be accorded to institutions or associations.

According to the Code of Statutes, §8, the grounds upon which any proposal is made must be stated and handed in along with such papers and other documents as may therein be referred to.

According to §3, every written work, to qualify for a prize, must have appeared in print.

For particulars, qualified persons are requested to apply to the office of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, Drammensvei 19, Oslo.

By way of special order and pursuant to sections 4 and 5 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Featherston County Council doth declare the plant known as Silybum (milk-thistle) to be a noxious weed within its jurisdiction—that is to say, within the County of Featherston.

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Raetihi Borough Council hereby resolves and declares by way of special order that all plants mentioned in the Second Schedule of the said Act, as extended from time to time by the Governor-General in Council, are noxious weeds within the Borough of Raetihi.
