Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops within the Borough of Gore.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Gore, has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops within the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m.; on Saturdays at 9 p.m.; and on Sundays, except during the time from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the following exception: On New Year’s Day, 2nd January, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, the King’s Birthday, Labour Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day the closing-hour shall be 8 p.m.:

And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 12th day of October, 1936, all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Gore shall be closed accordingly:

The notice dated the 1st March, 1916, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th March, 1916, fixing the closing-hours of chemists’ shops in the Borough of Gore is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

NOTES.—(1) Pursuant to section 21 (e) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, a chemist may keep his shop open (but only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances) between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the statutory closing-day.

(2) Pursuant to section 35 (4) of the same Act, a chemist may supply medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required on Sundays and on working-days outside the hours specified above, provided that the shop is opened for such purpose only and is closed immediately the sale is effected, and that the door of the shop is kept locked, except for the admission and exit of the customer.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VII, Maioro Survey District, for Sand-dune-reclamation Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the reclamation of sand-dunes—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Pukekohe, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 5 acres.

Being Allotment 28, Settlement of Maioro Suburban Section 2, Parish of Waiuku.

Situated in Block VII, Maioro Survey District.

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 93442, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block IX, Waitohu Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Otaki and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Classification of Road in Mauriceville County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the Main Highways Board’s proposed alteration in the classification of the road described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Mauriceville County.

SCHEDULE.

MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.

ROAD classified in Class Three: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 10 tons:—

Wellington–Napier via Wairarapa Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion within the Mauriceville County).

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board.

Wellington, 21st September, 1936.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules made thereunder, I, William Edward Parry, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Monday, the 12th October, 1936, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. S. B. Macdonald.
