forty-six miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station. Access by
metalled road and tar-sealed road. Easy undulating to steep
country broken by a deep gully along the front. Approxi-
mately 137 acres in worn-out pasture, 128 acres bush land
felled and grassed now reverted, balance in natural state of
standing bush. Ragwort requires attention.

  • No rent will be payable for two years after payment of the
    first half-year’s rent, provided that a sum equivalent to the
    concession granted is expended each year in effecting
    permanent improvements to the land.

The selector of the section must not fell and/or remove
any standing timber other than that which is required for
fencing purposes in connection with the property without the
consent of the Land Board first being secured.

Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection.


District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 15th July, 1936.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections
are open for selection under the Land Act, 1924;
and applications will be received at the District Lands and
Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock on Monday,
24th August, 1936.

The lands described in the First Schedule may, at the
option of the applicants, be purchased for cash or on deferred
payments, or be selected on renewable lease. The lands
described in the Second Schedule may be selected on renewable
lease only.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on
Wednesday, 26th August, 1936, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if
any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by
any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown
Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when
examined documentary evidence of their financial position,
such as bank pass-books, certificates, or letters of credit
from managers of banks, financial institutions or mercantile
firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give
financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially
should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and
supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of
the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant
is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit
comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken period rent,
lease and mortgage fees, deposit in reduction of improvement,
loading, and proportionate part of insurance premium on
buildings.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LANDS.

Waitomo County.—Aria Survey District.

SECTION 7, Block III : Area, 1053 acres. Capital value,
£655. Deposit on deferred payments, £35. Deferred
payments : Half-yearly instalments, £20 3s. Renewable
lease : Half-yearly rent, £13 2s.

Weighted with £1,015 for improvements, comprising
dwelling (poor), woolshed, cow-byre and yards, approximately
480 chains fencing, approximately 240 acres felled and
burned, and 60 acres ploughed and in grass. This amount
may be paid in cash or the whole amount may be secured by
way of a first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation
of New Zealand for a term of 35 years, with interest at the
rate ruling as at date of selection. Instalments under mortgage
to be paid quarterly. Costs for completion of mortgage, £4 17s.

A mixed farming property situated on the Ohura-Mokau
road, one mile from Rira School, seven miles from Aria
Post-office, Dairy-factory, and Saleyards, and thirty-one
miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station. The section contains
about 400 acres easy to hilly country, the remainder being
steep and broken sandstone country. The soil is loam
resting on part sandstone and clay formation and the section,
which is subdivided into eight paddocks, is watered by running
streams. Ragwort is not yet out of control and there are
a few blackberry bushes confined to the gullies.

Ohura County.—Ohura Survey District.

Subdivision 2 of Section 20, Block V : Area, 381 acres.
Capital value, £300. Deposit on deferred payments, £15.
Deferred payments : Half-yearly instalment, £9 5s. 3d.
Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £6.

Weighted with £843 for improvements, comprising four-
roomed dwelling (old), woolshed, cowshed and yards, about
300 chains fencing, poor condition, about 280 acres felling
and grassing, and about 14 acres stumping. This amount
is payable in cash or after payment of a deposit of £3, the
balance, £840, may be secured on first mortgage to the State
Advances Corporation of New Zealand for a term of 35 years,
with interest at the rate ruling at date of selection. Instal-
ments under mortgage to be paid quarterly. Costs of
completion of mortgage £4 5s.

A dairy- and sheep-farming property situated on the
Ohura-Waitaanga Road about five miles and a half from
Ohura Township, Railway-station, Post-office, School, and
Saleyards. Cream lorry passes the property. About 100
acres are flat, more or less cut about by gullies. Land is of
fairly good quality. About 100 acres are in fair pasture and
about 100 acres in fair to worn-out pasture. Access is by
good metalled road.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Whangamomona County.—Pouatu Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of half the annual rent for four years.)*

SECTIONS 4 and 104, and Lot 3 of Section 3, Block XI, and
Part Section 102, Block X : Area, 523 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £535.† Half-yearly rent, £10 14s.

  • After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and
    broken period rent (if any), an exemption from payment of
    half the annual rent will be allowed for a period of four years
    provided improvements to the value of £50 are effected
    annually during the exemption period.

Weighted with £167 for improvements, comprising whare,
sheds, yards, approximately 340 chains of fencing, and
150 acres felled, burned, and grassed. This amount may be
paid in cash or, after payment of a deposit of £2, the balance,
£165, may be secured by way of first mortgage to the State
Advances Corporation of New Zealand for a term of twenty
years, with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection.
Instalments under mortgage to be paid quarterly. A remission
of the interest payable under the mortgage will be allowed
for a period of two years provided improvements necessary
to gain the rental concession are effected. Costs for com-
pletion of mortgage, £2 9s.

A sheep- and cattle-grazing property situated on the Ohura
Road one mile and a half from Tahora Post-office, School,
and Railway-station. Access is from Stratford by fifty miles
metalled road. The property, which is watered by streams,
is subdivided into two paddocks and the soil is light loam
resting on papa and sandstone formation. It consists of
easy hills, all accessible to cattle. About 150 acres are in
grass, about 259 acres have been felled, but have now reverted
to manuka scrub, and about 115 acres are in natural state.

† Capital value includes the sum of £75 5s. 6d., being part
valuation for the before-mentioned improvements.

Lease will be subject to a water-supply easement appurte-
nant to Subdivision 1 of Section 102, Block X, Pouatu Survey
District.

Ohura County.—Heao Survey District.

(National-endowment.)

(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.)*

Section 7, Block VII : Area, 509 acres. Capital value, £380.
Half-yearly rent, £7 12s.

  • After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and
    broken period rent (if any), an exemption from payment of
    rent will be allowed for a period of two years provided improve-
    ments to the value of £20 are effected annually during the
    exemption period.

Weighted with £565 for improvements comprising dwelling,
old shed, yards, approximately 195 chains fencing, and
approximately 325 acres felled and grassed. This amount
may be paid in cash or secured by way of first mortgage to
the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand, term
30 years, payable by quarterly instalments, with interest at
the rate ruling as at date of selection. A remission of interest
payable under the mortgage will be allowed for one year
provided further permanent improvements to the value of
the amount remitted are effected. Costs for competion of
mortgage £3 13s.
