A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the Marriage Act, 1908, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage district known as the Birmingham district, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby divided anew into two marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—
RANGIWAHIA DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the summit of the Ruahine Range due east of the source of the Oroua River; thence to and along the left bank of the Oroua River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 43, Block VII, Apiti Survey District; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections 43, 42, and 67, Block VII aforesaid, to the road forming the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence westerly and north-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary of Section 16, Block VI, Apiti Survey District; thence along the eastern and northern boundaries of that section to the Kiwitea-Tapuae Road; thence northerly along that road and the western watershed of the Kiwitea River to Section 62, Block II, Apiti Survey District; thence along the western boundary of that section to its north-western corner; thence along the road forming the northern boundary of said Section 62 to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 74, Block II, Apiti Survey District; thence to and along that boundary and the western boundary of Section 73, Block II aforesaid, to its north-western corner; thence along the northern boundary of said Section 73 to Watershed Road; thence along Watershed Road and Cross Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 39B; thence to and along that boundary to the Mangawharariki Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 13, Block XV, Hautapu Survey District; thence along that boundary to Lagoon Road; thence along Lagoon Road and Auputa Road to the eastern boundary of the Otamakapua Native Reserve; thence along that boundary to the Kawhatau River; thence along a right line running due north to the summit of the northern watershed of the Kawhatau River; thence along that watershed to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence southerly along that range to a point due east of the source of the Oroua River, the place of commencement.
BIRMINGHAM DISTRICT.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded towards the south by Sections 264 and 265, Block I, Pohangina Survey District, Sections 266 and 190, Block XIII, Apiti Survey District, and Section 189, Block XVI, Ongo Survey District; thence towards the north-west generally by the Kiwitea-Tapuae Road to the north-western corner of Section 16, Block VI, Apiti Survey District; thence towards the north generally by the southern boundary of the Rangiwahia District hereinbefore described to the Oroua River; thence across that river and southerly along its left bank to Section 128, Block XIV, Apiti Survey District; thence by the northern boundary of that section and the northern boundary of Section 2, Block XV, to Main Ridge Road; thence by Main Ridge Road and Oroua Coal Creek Road to Section 3, Block II, Pohangina Survey District; thence by Sections 3 and 2, Block II aforesaid, and the north-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section produced to the western bank of the Oroua River; thence by the said western bank to the north-eastern corner of Section 264, Block I, Pohangina Survey District, the place of commencement.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the first day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty-six.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 2nd day of June, 1936.
