ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and with the precedent consent of the ratepayers of the Hampstead Area of the borough, and with the sanction of the Local Government Loans Board, published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the 7th day of May, 1936, the Ashburton Borough Council hereby resolves by way of special order as follows :—

“ That, for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund on a loan of £12,000 known as the Hampstead Drainage Loan, 1935, to be raised for the purpose of installing an underground drainage system for the Hampstead Area of the borough the Ashburton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one shilling and sevenpence-halfpenny (1s. 7½d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the boundaries of the said Hampstead Area of the borough on the basis of the annual value, and that such rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable annually on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being for a period of thirty-five years from the 1st day of June, 1936, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Ashburton Borough Council held on the 25th day of May, 1936.

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Riverton Mining District, at Riverton.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned Allan Francis Speight, of Redcliff Station, Otautau, Farmer, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for : 7.30 a.m., 25/5/36.

Date and number of miner’s right : 22/5/36 ; No. 60511.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points ; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise : Starting in Run 173A, Block XIX, Takitimo S.D. (License No. 410), and terminating in Sections 97 and 98, Block XVIII, Takitimo S.D. (Freehold Certificate of Title 92/92, Southland Registry) : Commencing on the north bank of the gully above the homestead of Redcliffs at a point distant about 27 chains above the homestead and extending in a northerly direction for a distance of about 19 chains, then down the spur in a northerly direction for a distance of about 20 chains and terminating at a powerhouse situate about 4 chains east of the homestead building.

Length and intended course of race : 39 chains.

Points of intake : One.

Estimated time and cost of construction : 4 weeks ; £250.

Mean depth and breadth : 9 in. by 15 in.

Number of heads to be diverted : 0·75 cusec.

Purpose for which water is to be used : Generation of electric power and light and domestic water-supply.

Proposed term of license : Twenty-one years.

KAWHIA COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER MAKING CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred by the above Act and of every other power it enabling, the Kawhia County Council hereby resolves—

“ That in lieu of the special rates mentioned in the Schedule hereto (by which special rates the Council’s non-convertible securities are at present secured), the Council hereby resolves and doth hereby make and levy by special order an annually recurring consolidated special rate on a uniform basis for the whole of its district, amounting to three-eighths of a penny (⅜d.) in the pound (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the district of the said Council. This consolidated special rate is made in lieu of the special rates mentioned in the Schedule hereto and is made to secure the non-convertible securities as defined in the Act above described, which non-convertible securities comprise all the securities issued by the said Council other than those comprised and described in the first schedule of the Kawhia County Loans Conversion Order, 1935. This new consolidated special rate hereby made and levied shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such non-convertible securities and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year until the last maturity date of such securities or until such securities are fully paid off.

“ THE SCHEDULE.

“ The schedule of special rates in lieu of which the above consolidated special rate is made are—

“ 1. Kawhia Streets Special Rate of ⅜d. in the pound.

“ 2. Mahoenui-Kawhia Special Rate of 1¾d. in the pound.

“ 3. Okupata Special Rate of 7d. in the pound (part).

“ 4. Te Maika Road Special Rate of 2⅝d. in the pound.”

The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Kawhia County Council held on the 4th day of April, 1936, and confirmed at a meeting of the said Council held on the 27th day of May, 1936.
