NOTE.—For the purposes of this part of this Schedule a tire shall not be regarded as a pneumatic tire—
(i) If the air used for inflation of the tire has been introduced in the process of manufacture or otherwise than by pressure applied from time to time: or
(ii) If, when the tire is inflated for use, the space occupied by air is less than one-half of the total volume of the tire so inflated.
Exemptions from Annual License Fees.
(1) Motor-vehicles (other than motor-cars or motor-cycles) owned by the Crown or a local authority and used exclusively or principally in connection with the construction or maintenance of roads or streets.
(2) Such other motor-vehicles as the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council in that behalf, exempt from the payment of annual license fees.
By Order in Council of 17th May, 1935, the following other motor-vehicles have been exempted from the payment of annual license fees:—
(3) Any motor-vehicle or locomotive designed or adapted solely or principally for driving ploughs, harrows, cultivators, reapers and binders, threshing-combines, chaffcutters, or other similar agricultural apparatus.
(4) Well-boring apparatus.
(5) Sawbench apparatus.
(6) Cranes.
(7) Air-compressor plants.
(8) Any agricultural tractor, if used for agricultural purposes only on the farm or farms occupied by the owner of the tractor.
(9) Any motor-vehicle which is designed and used exclusively or principally in connection with the construction or maintenance of roads or streets and which upon application by or on behalf of the owner is approved by the Minister of Transport for exemption.
