Rotorua, is published in accordance with the provisions
of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough
of Rotorua taken on the 8th day of January, 1936, on the
proposal of the Rotorua Borough Council to borrow the sum of
£11,500 for sealing and other improvements—

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable grounds for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any assumed or fictitious name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—PORTLAND ISLAND.
Direction-finding Signals.
Position : Lat., 39° 18' S.; long., 177° 53' E. (approx.).
Details : On and after the 10th February direction-finding signals will, on request, be sent from Portland Island Radio-station at midnight, 4, 8, and 9.30 a.m., noon, 4, 4.30, and 8 p.m., New Zealand time.
As Portland Island Radio-station does not communicate with ships, masters requiring signals should forward their request to Wellington Radio-station (ZLW) stating the times for which signals are required. Requests should be made on week-days before 9.15 a.m. for the 9.30, noon, and 4 p.m. signals, and before 4.15 p.m. for the 4.30 p.m., 8 p.m., midnight, 4 a.m., and 8 a.m. signals. As only a morning communication is held with the island on Sundays and holidays, all requests should be made before 9.15 a.m. for signals between 9.30 a.m. and 8 a.m. the following morning.
Signals will be sent continuously for three periods of 2 minutes each, with an interval of 1 minute between the periods, and consist of the signal group ZLOE sent three times, 1 to 3 dots for the number of period, a series of the letter O, and a long dash of about 7 seconds duration ending each minute, thus :—
1st period, ZLOE, 3 times, ., — — — — —, &c.
3rd period, ZLOE, 3 times, ..., ", ",
The signals are of type A 2, wave-length 390 Kc/s. (769 m.), and should be effective at a distance of about 50 miles.
A charge of 5s. will be made by the Post and Telegraph Department for the request messages.
