THE WHAKATANE PAPER MILLS LIMITED WATER-SUPPLY EMPOWERING ACT, 1926.
In the matter of a Private Bill intituled “An Act to confer powers of taking Water from the Whakatane River and other incidental Powers upon The Whakatane Paper Mills, Limited.”
NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to the Standing Orders of the General Assembly of New Zealand relating to Private Bills that The Whakatane Paper Mills, Limited, a company incorporated in New South Wales and having its principal place of business in New Zealand at Number 41, Shortland Street, Auckland (hereinafter called “the company”), will within fourteen (14) days after the commencement of the session of the General Assembly of New Zealand to be held next after the date of this notice present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand praying and applying for leave to bring a Private Bill to be called “The Whakatane Paper Mills Limited Water-supply Empowering Act, 1936.”
The objects of the Bill are—

To empower the company to take from the Whakatane River at the site of the company’s proposed pulp and paper mill—viz., the land owned by the company at and adjoining the old freezing-works site, and being parts of Allotment 29f, Parish of Rangitaiki, such quantity of water not exceeding twenty-three (23) cubic feet per second as the company may require for its proposed pulp and paper mill.

To empower the company to take from the Whakatane River at any point or points in its course between the proposed mill-site and the point upstream from the mill-site where the said river is joined on its right bank by the southern (up-stream) boundary of Allotment 14 of the Parish of Waimana (being a point approximately forty-eight (48) chains up-stream from the intake-pipe of the Whakatane Borough), such quantity of fresh water as the company may require for its proposed pulp and paper mill not exceeding twenty-three (23) cubic feet per second.

To enable the company to enter upon or acquire by private treaty or compulsory purchase or user any lands or hereditaments, easements, or rights of way within the area comprised by Allotments 235, 264, 23, 14, and Lot 2 of Allotment 245 of the Parish of Waimana, and Allotments 38b Number 3, 38a Number 2, 30c, 30e, and 29 of the Parish of Rangitaiki, and to lay down and maintain upon, under, or over any such lands or hereditaments, and upon, under, or over any roads, rivers, navigable waters, drains, arms of the sea, and bridges within the said area, any pipes, pumps, reservoirs, and other works required for the abstraction and conveyance of such water.

To provide that the company shall pay compensation in respect of all lands taken or injuriously affected and in respect of all damage done by the exercise of its powers under the Bill.
Printed copies of the Bill will be deposited in the Private Bills Office, Parliament House, Wellington, within fourteen (14) days from the commencement of the next session of Parliament.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of the GISBORNE GAS COMPANY, LIMITED.
NOTICE is hereby given that the order of the Supreme Court dated the 17th day of December, 1935, confirming the reduction of the capital of the above-named company from £70,000 to £53,402, and the minute approved by the Court showing with respect to the capital of the company as altered the several particulars required by the above statute, was registered by the Registrar of Companies on the 4th day of February, 1935.

MURCHISON COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by Part II of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, and the Murchison County Loans Conversion Order, 1935 (No. 1), the Murchison County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
“That, for the purpose of providing the half-yearly instalment of principal and interest in respect of the new securities authorized to be issued by the Murchison County Council under the above-mentioned Act and Order in conversion of the existing securities issued in respect of the loans set out in the First Schedule to that Order, the said Murchison County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-third of a penny (⅓d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the County of Murchison, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such securities and be payable annually on the 17th day of September in each and every year until the maturity date of the last of such securities, being the 1st day of November, 1951, or until all such securities are fully paid off.”

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
