CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Settlement Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 23rd January, 1935.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlement Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 18th February, 1935.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 20th February, 1935, at 10 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Whangarei County.—Aponga Settlement.
SECTION 2s: Area, 793 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Capital value, £2,735; half-yearly rent, £68 7s. 6d.
Loaded with £40 for buildings, payable in cash or by twenty half-yearly instalments of £2 11s. 10d.
The section is situated on Finlayson’s Road, twenty miles from Whangarei, seventeen miles from Kamo, and sixteen miles from Ruatangata Railway-station. School is at Purua, three miles and a half distant. Access is by good metalled cart-road from Kamo. There are a few acres of flat, about two-thirds could be described as undulating, and about a third is hilly to broken. About 450 acres is in fairly good pasture, 175 acres is worn-out pasture (fern and grass), 30 acres mostly in fern with a little grass, 131 acres in fern and tea-tree, 5 acres in shelter clumps, and 2 acres lucerne. The soil is mostly good sandstone brown rubble resting on blue rock formation, and is well watered by several permanent creeks. Property is ring-fenced and is subdivided into seven paddocks.
Buildings comprise a three-roomed lean-to dwelling 36 ft. by 12 ft., iron sides and roof, beaverboard lining on walls and ceiling, iron chimney, and four-bailed cowshed and separator-room built of kauri boards, and iron roof with concrete floor.
Improvements included in the capital value consist of 83 chains road-fencing, £51 17s. 6d.; 170 chains boundary-fencing, £106 5s.; 238 chains subdivisional fencing, £138 17s. 6d.; plantations and shelter-belts, £5; orchard, ½-acre, £5; 655 acres cleared, burned and grassed, £1,473 15s.; 2 acres ploughed for lucerne, £10.

Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on optional tenure under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 25th February, 1935.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 27th February, 1935, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.—Whirinaki Survey District.
SECTION 4, Block V: Area, 1,643 acres. Capital value, £410. Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £13. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 4s.
Weighted with the sum of £985 for improvements, comprising felling, grassing, fencing, two-roomed whare, woolshed, and sheep-yards. This sum is payable in cash or by a cash deposit of £45, balance—viz., £940—being secured by instalment mortgage extending over a period not exceeding 36½ years, interest at 5 per cent. per annum if selected by a discharged soldier or 5½ per cent. per annum if selected by a civilian.
Situated in Mangapurua Valley Road which is formed and metalled to within ten miles of section. Access is from Pipiriki, about two miles from river-landing, or forty-two miles from Raetihi. Access-road is being metalled. Section comprises rough, steep hill country with some bad gorges and a few acres of easy country along road frontage. The cleared portion has badly deteriorated. About 600 acres has been felled and grassed, gone back to fern and second growth, balance of section is in bush, fairly dense, consisting of tawa, rata, birch, &c., with an odd totara and rimu, and the usual undergrowth. Soil of medium quality resting on papa, clay, and sandstone; well watered. Altitude 200 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.

Masterton County.—Otahoua Survey District.—Poroporo Settlement.
SECTION 13, Block XV: Area, 539 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £2,650; half-yearly rent, £66 5s.
Improvements to the value of £904 included in the capital value consist of clearing, grassing, and fencing.
Improvements to the value of £1,618 not included in the capital value, and which must be paid for separately, consist of clearing, grassing, stumping, windmill, water-supply, house, stable, and wool-shed, cow-shed, sheep-yards, and dip. This sum is either payable in cash or after payment of a deposit of £18 the balance may be secured to the State Advances Superintendent by mortgage payable over 36½ years, interest at 5½ per cent. per annum.
The property is a mixed farming proposition, situated seventeen miles and a half from Masterton Railway-station and one mile and three-quarters from Poroporo School. Access by good metalled roads. Approximately 150 acres in good pasture, 320 acres in worn-out pasture, and 60 acres in cultivation; about 220 acres comprising low hills and easy undulating land are ploughable, balance hills with some gorges. Well watered.
Timber.—There is a quantity of white-pine milling-timber along the river on this property. This timber, together with right of access thereto, is reserved to the Crown.
