Under the Mining Act, 1926.

APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Karamea Mining District at Nelson.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned Alexander James Toogood, of the City of Wellington, Company Director, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Mark on pegs: T.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 10 a.m., 20/6/35.

Date and number of miner’s right: 30/5/35; No. 58150.

Address for service: Care of Messrs. Fell and Harley, Solicitors, Hardy Street, Nelson.

Dated at Nelson, this 24th day of June, 1935.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Commencing at a point approximately 10 chains down-stream on Baton River from the mouth of White Creek, following approximately an easterly direction throughout whole course. Affects Crown land and also freehold land—namely, Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block II, Wangapeka Survey District, as per sketch plan filed herewith.

Length and intended course of race: 2¾ miles, easterly.

Points of intake: One.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Six months; £3,000.

Mean depth and breadth: 3 ft. by 5 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Thirty-five.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining.

Proposed term of license: Twenty-one years.

JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by Part II of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, and the Johnsonville Town Board Loans Conversion Order, 1935, the Johnsonville Town Board hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the new securities authorized to be issued by the Johnsonville Town Board under the above-mentioned Act and Order in conversion of existing securities issued in respect of the loans set out in the First Schedule to that Order, and also the interest, sinking fund, and other charges in respect of the unconverted securities issued in respect of such loans, the said Johnsonville Town Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of threepence (3d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the district, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such securities and be payable yearly on the 1st day of June in each and every year until the last maturity date of such securities, being the 1st day of June, 1963, or until such securities are full paid off.”

WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Waipa County Council proposes to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a public road—for which purpose the following lands require to be taken by the said Waipa County Council under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928 (that is to say), all that piece of land containing 3 roods 24·5 perches (more or less), being part of Allotment 87 of the Parish of Tuhikaramea. As the same is delineated coloured red on a plan lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland under No. 27952.

A plan of the land required to be taken as aforesaid is open for inspection at the office of Messrs. Swarbrick and Swarbrick, Solicitors, Argus Buildings, Hamilton.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objections to the execution of such works or to the taking of such lands and to send such writing to the Waipa County Council, Bank Street, Te Awamutu, within forty days from the date of the first publication of this notice.

WAIPAWA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Waipawa County Council Loans Conversion Order, 1935.

I, NORMAN MATTHIAS PAULSEN, Chairman of the Waipawa County Council, do hereby certify that pursuant to the provisions of subsection (2) of section 9 of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, a resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Waipawa County Council held on the 10th day of June, 1935, and confirmed on the 25th day of June, 1935, providing for the issue under Part II of that Act of new securities in conversion of the existing securities of the loans set forth in the First Schedule to the Waipawa County Loans Conversion Order, 1935, as published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36 of the 16th May, 1935, page 1330.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company duly convened and held on the 24th day of June, 1935, the following special resolution was duly passed:—

“That a sale of the goodwill of the company’s business having been agreed to the company be wound up voluntarily, and that FREDERICK HUMPHREY DARE GALE, of Christchurch, Accountant, bc and he is hereby appointed liquidator for the purposes of such winding up.”

The Wellington City Works Loan, 1935.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Wellington City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, instalments of principal, and other charges on the Wellington City Council Works Loan of £100,000, 1935, authorized to be raised by the Wellington City Council under the above-mentioned Act for the provision of stormwater-relief culverts, stormwater drainage, and for the acquisition of land, earthworks, widening, construction, and other works in respect of certain streets in the City of Wellington, the
