Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
STAFF OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.
Lieutenant A. G. W. Heber-Percy, Grenadier Guards, is granted the local rank of Captain whilst holding the appointment of Aide-de-Camp to His Excellency the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief. Dated 17th April, 1935.
COMMANDS AND STAFF.
Colonel W. H. Cunningham, C.B.E., D.S.O., v.d., relinquishes command of the 2nd N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (a). Dated 31st May, 1935.
Lieutenant-Colonel R. F. Gambrill, v.d., relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, dated 31st May, 1935, and is appointed to command the 2nd N.Z. Infantry Brigade, with the rank of Colonel, dated 1st June, 1935.
The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel J. L. Saunders, D.S.O., v.d., 1st Battalion, the Wellington Regiment, is extended to 31st May, 1936.
Lieutenant-Colonel A. J. M. Manson, E.D., the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1935.
Lieutenant-Colonel G. F. Bertrand, the Taranaki Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 8. Dated 1st June, 1935.
Lieutenant-Colonel F. S. Varnham, M.C., E.D., the Taranaki Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion. Dated 2nd June, 1935.
Lieutenant-Colonel G. Lyon, M.C., E.D., Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of the 2nd Field Brigade, N.Z.A., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 11th June, 1935.
Major R. W. Fenton, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of the 19th Medium Battery, N.Z.A., dated 11th June, 1935, and is appointed to command the 2nd Field Brigade, N.Z.A., with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, dated 12th June, 1935.
The period of command of Major V. P. Haughton, Central Coast Artillery Group, is extended to 30th November, 1935.
Major J. M. Mitchell, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is appointed to command the 10th Field Battery, N.Z.A. Dated 27th May, 1935.
Major H. F. Butcher, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, relinquishes command of the 2nd Field Company, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 30th April, 1935.
Colonel E. H. Northcroft, D.S.O., v.d., N.Z. Army Legal Department, relinquishes the appointment of Judge-Advocate-General, and is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 18th June, 1935.
Colonel C. H. Weston, D.S.O., v.d., N.Z. Army Legal Department, is appointed Judge-Advocate-General. Dated 19th June, 1935.
ROYAL N.Z. AIR FORCE.
Flight-Lieutenant M. W. Buckley, M.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of Flying Instructor, Wigram Aerodrome, Sockburn, dated 17th June, 1935, and is appointed Officer Commanding No. 1 Bomber Reconnaissance Flight, Royal N.Z. Air Force Base, Hobsonville, Auckland, dated 18th June, 1935.
THE MANAWATU MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain B. W. Harvey is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 15th June, 1935.
THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant A. H. Boyce to be Captain. Dated 30th April, 1935.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Captain J. M. Mitchell, 10th Field Battery, to be Major. Dated 27th May, 1935.
The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 1st June, 1935 :—
J. W. Moodie, 12th Field Battery.
J. S. Findlay, 14th Medium Battery.
2nd Lieutenant J. C. Fleming ceases to be posted to the 16th Light Battery and is posted to the 9th Field Battery. Dated 27th May, 1935.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Lieutenant B. S. Smyth, 3rd Field Company, to be Captain. Dated 30th April, 1935.
Lieutenant E. I. Hubbard, 2nd Field Company, to be Captain. Dated 1st May, 1935.
Richard Charles Pemberton to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted to the 3rd Field Company. Dated 1st June, 1935.
THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.
Lieutenant H. F. Low, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 18th June, 1935.
Lieutenant P. G. Cope, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 18th June, 1935.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. P. Wilson, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.
THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.
Major A. J. M. Manson, E.D., 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st June, 1935.
James William Charles Craig to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1935.
THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.
Major F. S. Varnham, M.C., E.D., 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 2nd June, 1935.
THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.
Captain F. E. Dornwell, 1st Battalion, to be Major. Dated 1st May, 1935.
Captain T. H. Mitchell, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 14th June, 1935.
Captain F. E. Wilkes, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Otago Regiment. Dated 17th June, 1935.
Lieutenant A. I. M. Perry, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 27th May, 1935.
Lieutenant F. Edwards, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the N.Z. Air Force. Dated 8th June, 1935.
THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.
Captain C. H. Bleach, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 30th May, 1935.
THE OTAGO REGIMENT.
Captain G. Swan, M.C., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 11. Dated 17th June, 1935.
Captain F. E. Wilkes, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 1st September, 1933, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 17th June, 1935.
Lieutenant J. J. Buchan, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Southland Regiment. Dated 31st May, 1935.
2nd Lieutenant T. H. Hendra, 3rd Cadet Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 6th June, 1935.
THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.
Lieutenant J. J. Buchan from the Otago Regiment to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 9th January, 1930, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 31st May, 1935.
N.Z. AIR FORCE.
Gordon Rutherford White (Flying Officer, Reserve Air Force Officers, R.A.F.) to be Flying Officer, with seniority from 2nd June, 1931, and is posted to No. 2 (Bomber) Squadron. Dated 10th March, 1935.
Lieutenant F. Edwards, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Flying Officer, with seniority from 1st May, 1935, next below Flying Officer S. M. M. Watson, and is posted to No. 3 (Bomber) Squadron. Dated 8th June, 1935.
The undermentioned Pilot Officers (on probation) are confirmed in their appointments and are posted to the Squadrons as stated against their names in the order of seniority as shown below. Dated 1st June, 1935 :—
