Classification of Roads in Akitio County.


IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me
by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy
Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, James Alexander Young,
Acting Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the Akitio
County Council’s proposed classification of the roads de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto and situated in Akitio County.


SCHEDULE.

AKITIO COUNTY.

ROADS classified in Class Three: Available for the use
thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-
axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying,
weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-
vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more
than 10 tons :—

Main Highways.

Pahiatua–Pongaroa Main Highway No. 61 (all that portion
within Akitio County).
Pongaroa–Akitio Main Highway No. 61.
Masterton–Weber via Alfredton Main Highway No. 63 (all
that portion within Akitio County).
Rimu Main Highway No. 440.

County Roads.

Akaroa, Akitio River, Aohanga, Cemetery, Cross, Glenora,
Huia, Huia Iti, Kaituna, Kawakawa, Korora, Mangaone,
Manuhara, Marainanga, McLeod’s, Mount Arthur,
Mount Cadmus, North Range, Range, Rising Sun,
Soldiers’, South Range, Spur, Sugar Loaf, Thomas,
Titaramonga, Towai, Waihi–Akitio, Waihi Valley,
Waihoki, Waikereru, Waiowaka, Waipatakaka.

Arbor Day, 1935.


Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 8th June, 1935.

IT is hereby notified that Wednesday, 7th August, 1935,
is to be observed as Arbor Day, and in view of the
national importance of tree-planting local bodies throughout
New Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations
on that date.

Where on account of local climatic conditions in any
district the 7th August is deemed unsuitable, the local bodies
affected are invited to observe some other suitable day in
that month.
