Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 29th May, 1935.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to noon on Monday, 24th June, 1935.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Tuesday, 25th June, 1935, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Maungamangero Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of mortgage interest for three years and rent for five years.*)
SECTIONS 7 and 8, Block I: Area, 1,025 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £400; half-yearly rent, £8.
Weighted with £485 for improvements, consisting of wool-shed, outbuilding, cattle and sheep yards, sheep-dip and draining-pens, clearing and grassing, 80 chains of road fencing, 200 chains subdivisional fencing, half-share in 120 chains boundary-fencing. This sum is payable either in cash or the total amount may remain on mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent, payable over a period of thirty years (interest 5½ per cent.) by instalments of principal and interest combined amounting to £16 11s. 9d. each half-year.
Special Terms.—The successful applicant will be required to pay one-half year’s rent (£8) upon allotment and thereafter will in each succeeding year up to five years maintain existing improvements and effect further improvements of a value not less than the equivalent of the annual rent and interest charge. Conditional on the required improvements and maintenance being effected no mortgage interest for three years and no rent for five years will be charged. If the lessee-mortgagor fails to observe the foregoing conditions or in lieu thereof to make payment of the respective charges as they become due the lease will be subject to forfeiture.
A grazing property, situated on the Pomerangi Road, thirty miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station and Dairy Factory (cream depot), twenty-one miles from Piopio Saleyards; access by metalled road. Land hilly and broken, approximately 400 acres cleared and grassed, now reverting to second growth, balance in standing bush. Ragwort requires attention.

Land in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections will be offered for sale by public auction for cash at the District Lands and Survey Office, State Fire Insurance Building, Wellington, on Tuesday, 2nd July, 1935, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.—TOWN OF OWHANGO.
Kaitieke County.
SECTION 2, Block II: Area, 1 rood. Upset price, £10.
Weighted with £1 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, consisting of fencing.
Section 11, Block II: Area, 1 rood. Upset price, £10.
Weighted with £5 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, consisting of felling, grassing, and fencing.
Sections, both of which are level and good building-sites, are situated in the Town of Owhango, one mile from Owhango Railway-station. Section 2 has frontage to Omaki Road, while Section 11 has frontage to Okioi Street.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Auction.
State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 17th May, 1935.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned timber will be disposed of by public auction at the office of the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 2 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 17th day of June, 1935.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
THE milling-trees on the area containing approximately 258·8 acres, in Block XII, Ahaura Survey District (Provisional State Forest Reserve 1606), about sixteen miles from Ahaura Railway-station.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 296,560, or in board feet 1,857,820, made up as follows:—

Upset price: £1,760.
Time for removal of timber: Three years.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-eighth of the purchase-price, together with £1 1s. license fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance by nine equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid three months after the date of sale.
Terms and Conditions.

All instalment payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.

The attention of buyers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful bidder to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

Intending buyers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

The timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the highest bid by the Commissioner of State Forests.

The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber before the date of sale.

If no bid is accepted for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application at the upset price for three months from the date of auction.
The conditions, which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and further particulars may be obtained on application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry, Wellington.
