β¨ Government Appointments
WHEREAS it is provided by the twenty-eighth section
of the Harbours Act, 1923, that if any constituent
district or combined district fails at any election to elect the
required number of representatives, the Governor-General
may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified
persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that
district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected ; and
the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if
they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act :
And whereas it is provided by the said Act that two members
of the Tauranga Harbour Board shall be elected by the electors
of the Waimapu, Te Puna, and Katikati Ridings of the County
of Tauranga :
And whereas at the elections held on the eighth day of May,
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-five, the electors of the
said districts elected one member only to the said Board :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-
recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint
William Frederick Sinclair
to be a member of the Tauranga Harbour Board as a representative of the said districts to fill the vacancy caused by the
above-mentioned failure to elect.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 15th day of May, 1935.
