Appointments and Promotions of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments and promotions of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Colonel F. Symon, C.M.G., D.S.O., Regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery, A.D.C. to the King, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding Central Military Command, and retains (for one year) the appointment of Director of Artillery, G.H.Q. Dated 6th May, 1935.

Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D.S.O., Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant-General, G.H.Q., dated 6th May, 1935, and is appointed Officer Commanding Central Military Command, dated 7th May, 1935.

Major O. H. Mead, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Staff Officer in Charge No. 11 Regimental District and Brigade Major, 3rd N.Z. Infantry Brigade. Dated 6th May, 1935.

Lieutenant-Colonel O. H. Mead, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant-General, G.H.Q., Wellington. Dated 7th May, 1935.

Captain M. A. Stedman, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Southern Military Command. Dated 6th May, 1935.

Major W. J. K. Jennings, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Officer in Charge No. 10 Regimental District, dated 6th May, 1935, and is appointed Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Southern Military Command, dated 7th May, 1935.

Major M. A. Stedman, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Staff Officer in Charge No. 10 Regimental District and Brigade Major, 3rd N.Z. Infantry Brigade. Dated 7th May, 1935.

Major K. L. Stewart, O.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Staff Officer in Charge No. 11 Regimental District, and is appointed Staff Officer in Charge No. 11 Regimental District, dated 7th May, 1935.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Major O. H. Mead, D.S.O., to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 7th May, 1935.

Captain M. A. Stedman, M.C., to be Major. Dated 7th May, 1935.

REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant-Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D.S.O., to be Colonel. Dated 22nd June, 1933.

Lieutenant C. E. Weir to be Captain. Dated 7th May, 1935.

THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant T. Wallace, from the Waikato Mounted Rifles, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 11th June, 1931. Dated 31st January, 1935.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated 1st March, 1935:—

THE WAIKATO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant T. Wallace is transferred to the Auckland Mounted Rifles. Dated 31st January, 1935.

THE MANAWATU MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain S. C. W. Watkins is transferred to the Reserve of Officers; Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 16th April, 1935.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

2nd Lieutenant E. I. Henton, 3rd Field Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 13th April, 1935.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTRESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Lieutenant C. A. Ferguson, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 17th April, 1935.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Captain F. J. Gwilliam, 1st Battalion, to be Major. Dated 1st March, 1935.

Captain (Quartermaster) M. B. Downey, 1st Battalion, to be Major (Quartermaster). Dated 1st March, 1935.

John Bernard Cranston (late Lieutenant, West Yorkshire Regiment (British Regular Forces)) to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 1st October, 1934, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 17th April, 1935.

THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.

Lieutenant G. D. Hunter, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 9th June, 1929, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 7th March, 1935.

Lieutenant R. H. V. Challiner, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 4. Dated 17th April, 1935.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. H. Thom, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

William Arnold O’Neill Canavan to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 10th April, 1935.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (on probation) are confirmed:—

A. Haley, 1st Cadet Battalion.

G. W. Langhorne, 2nd Cadet Battalion.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenants. Dated 11th November, 1934:—

2nd Lieutenant G. R. G. Donald, 1st Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 10th April, 1935.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. J. D. Sinclair, 6th Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

2nd Lieutenant J. B. Andrews, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Otago Regiment. Dated 26th April, 1935.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) S. Rockel, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

Leslie Millward Hobbs to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 29th March, 1935.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Ernest Daly Price to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1934.

2nd Lieutenant J. B. Andrews, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 16th October, 1934, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 26th April, 1935.

THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

Lieutenant C. C. Werry, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 4th December, 1934.

2nd Lieutenant H. S. D. Yates, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 14th September, 1934.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The undermentioned to be Chaplains, 4th Class (Church of England), R.D. 1. Dated 23rd April, 1935:—
