Appointments in the Public Service.

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Paeroa, as from the 3rd day of April, 1935.

Jules Caesar Malfroy,

to be Registrar of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Auckland and Sheriff for the District of Auckland for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, as from the 15th day of April, 1935.

Kenneth John Caverhill, Esquire,

to be Deputy of the Superintendent in accordance with the provisions of the State Advances Act, 1913, as from the 12th day of April, 1935.

Amending Warrant declaring Open Season for Imported and Native Game in the Otago Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, James Alexander Young, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend the Warrant dated 23rd March, 1935, made under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and published in New Zealand Gazette of 25th March, 1935, at page 764 et seq., declaring open seasons for imported game and native game in the Acclimatization Districts specified therein so far as that portion of the said Warrant included under the heading “ Otago Acclimatization District ” is concerned, by adding to the conditions included under the said heading the following additional condition :—

“ 7. (a) No person shall use or cause to be used on any water within the district for the taking or killing of imported game, and/or native game any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, mai-mai, or loo except within a distance of half a chain from the edge of such water.”

Constituting a Recognized Aviation Authority.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by section 3 of the Local Authorities Empowering (Aviation Encouragement) Act, 1929, I, John George Cobbe, Minister of Defence for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby recognize for the purposes of that Act the undermentioned aviation authority :—

Notice prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of New Plymouth of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of New Plymouth, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, smoking requisites—be prohibited during such times as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 29th day of April, 1935, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of New Plymouth shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exception: On the working-day that first precedes any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, from the 18th December to 7th January, and from the Monday preceding Good Friday and up to the end of the week following Good Friday, the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

The notice gazetted on the 6th December, 1923, prohibiting the sale in the Borough of New Plymouth of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

The Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927.—Appointment of District Intermediate Credit Supervisor and Chairman of District Board.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon it by section 14 of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927, and of all other powers and authorities it in that behalf enabling, has appointed

Frank Mitchell Whyte,

District Public Trustee, Masterton, to be District Intermediate Credit Supervisor for the Wairarapa Rural Intermediate Credit District in succession to Kenneth John Caverhill.

And it is further notified that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on it by paragraph 10 of the regulations made under the said Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd day of December, 1927, and of all other powers it in that behalf enabling, has appointed the said

Frank Mitchell Whyte

to be Chairman of the Wairarapa District Rural Intermediate Credit Board in succession to the said Kenneth John Caverhill. The appointment took effect as from the 8th April, 1935.
