THE following resolution passed by the Matamata County Council on the 14th day of December, 1934, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 7 (2) of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934.

“THAT the Council assume responsibility as from the 20th December, 1934, for the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, and amendments thereto.”

Administration of Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, in Whakatane County.—(Notice No. Ag. 3243.)

THE following resolution passed by the Whakatane County Council on the 11th day of December, 1934, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 7 (2) of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934.

RESOLUTION.

“THAT in terms of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934, section 7, this Council assume responsibility for the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act within the Whakatane County as from the 11th day of December, 1934.

“THAT H. J. Marks be appointed Noxious Weeds Inspector in respect of the Noxious Weeds Act administration and Whakatane County Lands.”

Administration of Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, in Buller County.—(Notice No. Ag. 3245.)

THE following resolution passed by the Buller County Council on the 19th day of December, 1934, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 7 (2) of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934.

RESOLUTION.

“RESOLVED that the Buller County Council assume the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act and its amendments within the county, and that Inspector G. Blythe be appointed Inspector of Noxious Weeds under the said Act and its amendments.”

Fixing the Amount of Special Orchard-tax payable in the Marlborough Commercial Fruitgrowing District.—(Notice No. Ag. 3246.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by subsection (3) of section 4 of the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, Charles Edward de la Barca Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, hereby order and direct that in addition to the general orchard-tax payable under section 3 of the said Act, the occupier of every orchard within the Marlborough Commercial Fruitgrowing District shall in each year be liable to pay a special orchard-tax calculated at the rate of one shilling (1s.) for every acre or part of an acre comprised in his orchard and planted with apple-trees, pear-trees, or quince-trees, and do hereby revoke as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette the notice prescribing the amount of such special orchard-tax given under my hand on the 12th day of February, 1934, and published in the Gazette on the 15th day of the same month, at page 269.

Revoking the Notice prescribing the Amount of Special Orchard-tax payable in the Gisborne Commercial Fruitgrowing District.—(Notice No. Ag. 3238.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by subsection (3) of section 4 of the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, Charles Edward de la Barca Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, do hereby revoke the notice prescribing the amount of special orchard-tax payable by the occupier of every orchard within the Gisborne Commercial Fruitgrowing District, given under the hand of the Minister of Agriculture on the 3rd day of October, 1929, and published in the Gazette on the 10th day of the same month, at page 2607, and do hereby declare that such revocation shall take effect on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Fixing the Amount of Special Orchard-tax payable in the Waimea Commercial Fruitgrowing District.—(Notice No. Ag. 3240.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by subsection (3) of section 4 of the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, Charles Edward de la Barca Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, hereby order and direct that, in addition to the general orchard-tax payable under section 3 of the said Act, the occupier of every orchard within the Waimea Commercial Fruitgrowing District shall in each year be liable to pay a special orchard-tax calculated at the rate of two shillings (2s.) for every acre or part of an acre comprised in his orchard and planted with apple-trees, pear-trees, or quince-trees, and do hereby revoke as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette the notice prescribing the amount of such special orchard-tax given under my hand on the 10th day of January, 1934, and published in the Gazette on the 18th day of the same month, at page 62.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in a fraudulent business, it is hereby ordered under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Appointing Thursday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Akaroa.

WHEREAS a poll on the matter of changing the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Akaroa from Saturday to any other week-day was duly taken by the Akaroa Borough Council under the authority of section 17 of the Local Legislation Act, 1934, on the 20th day of December, 1934 :

And whereas the Town Clerk and Returning Officer of the Borough of Akaroa has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :

Now, therefore, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 10th day of January, 1935.
