PETONE AND LOWER HUTT GAS-LIGHTING BOARD.

A Notice of Result of Poll for the Purchase and Erection of the New “Lowe” Gas-manufacturing Plant (£16,000).

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the boroughs of Petone and Lower Hutt was taken on the 12th day of December, 1934, for the purchase and erection of the new “Lowe” gas-manufacturing plant (£16,000).

The number of votes recorded—

For the proposal .. .. .. 463

Against the proposal .. .. 604

Informal .. .. .. .. 9

I would therefore declare that the said proposal was rejected.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is expedient by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Riverdon affecting parts Rural Sections Nos. 570, 990, 11495, 14091, 14118, and 17167, in Block XVI, Rangiora Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Annetta Avenue, Adelaide Crescents, and parts of Beverley Street and Dorothy Crescent shown therein should be of the width of 66 ft. ;

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Lands, do hereby in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying off of such roads of a width of not less than 50 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Special Order made by the Ohura County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation.

Wellington, 20th December, 1934.

THE following special order made by the Ohura County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 31st day of March, 1935, as the date from which the special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Ohura County Council resolves by way of special order as follows :—

(1) The present division of the County of Ohura into two ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into three ridings, to be called respectively Matiere Riding, Ohura Riding, and Niho Niho Riding, which are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

(2) The said County Council shall consist of seven members who shall be elected as follows : The electors of Matiere Riding and the Ohura Riding shall elect three councillors; the electors of Niho Niho Riding shall elect one councillor.

(3) The alterations hereby made shall take effect on and after the 31st day of March, 1935.

SCHEDULE.

MATIERE RIDING.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Ongarue River in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 2, Block VII, Tangitu Survey District, and proceeding south-westerly and westerly along the boundary of Matiere Riding, as described in New Zealand Gazette No. 15 of the 7th March, 1929, page 531, to the southernmost corner of Section 6, Block IV, Ohura Survey District; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Sections 6 and 4 of the said Block IV to the boundary between Blocks III and IV, Ohura Survey District; thence westerly and northerly along the said block boundary to its intersection with the southern boundary of Aria Survey District; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the said boundary to the middle of the Ohura River; thence northerly along the middle of the said river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 15, Block XV, Aria Survey District; thence north-westerly in that line to and along the said north-eastern boundary to the southern boundary of Section 9, Block XV aforesaid; thence north-easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 9 to the Whenuakura Road; thence westerly along the southern side of the said road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 13, Block XV, Aria Survey District; thence north-easterly in that line to and along the said boundary to the southern boundary of Section 21 of the aforesaid block; thence south-easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 21 to the northern boundary of Block XV, Aria Survey District; thence generally westerly along the said block boundary to the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block XIV, Aria Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the said north-eastern boundary and the western boundary of Section 3, Block X, Aria Survey District, to the northern boundary of the Ohura River, as defined in New Zealand Gazette No. 18 of the 31st March, 1927, page 732; thence generally easterly along the said county boundary to the middle of the Ongarue River, the point of commencement.

OHURA RIDING.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the Puketawai Trig. Station in Block X, Aria Survey District, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along the western boundaries of Section 3, Block X, and Sections 26 and 2, Block XV, to the northern boundary of Section 24, Block XIV, all in Aria Survey District; thence south-westerly along the western boundaries of the said Section 24 and of Section 20 of the same block; thence easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 20 and south-westerly along the western boundaries of Sections 20 and 19, Block II, Ohura Survey District, to the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 19; thence southerly generally across and along the Prontice Road and along the western boundary of Section 7, Block II, Ohura Survey District, to the westernmost corner of the said Section 7; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of the said Section 7 and of Section 9, Block II, Ohura Survey District, to the Kopuha North Road; thence south-easterly along a right line crossing the said road, the Ohura River, and a river-bank road to the westernmost corner of Section 12, Block III, Ohura Survey District; thence still south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said Section 12 and in the same line across the Stratford-Main Trunk Railway Reserve, along the south-western boundaries of the said Section 12 and of Section 25 to and in the same line across the Ohura Road; thence southerly and easterly along the eastern side of the Ohura Road and the northern side of the Urn Road to the north-western boundary of Section 4, Block VII, Ohura Survey District; thence south-westerly along the said boundary to the westernmost corner of the said Section 4; thence south-easterly and easterly along the south-western and southern boundaries of the aforesaid Section 4 and the southern boundary of Section 2, Block VII, Ohura Survey District, to the Waitangata Road; thence due north by a right line to the north side of the road; thence easterly along the said roadside to the boundary of the Taumarunui County, as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 31st March, 1927, page 731; thence generally southerly along the Taumarunui County boundary to the middle of the Wanganui River; thence south-westerly along the middle of the said river to its junction with the Ohura River; thence north-westerly along the middle of the Ohura River to the 39th parallel of south latitude; thence westerly, northerly, and south-easterly along the boundary of the Ohura County, as described in New Zealand Gazette No. 18 of the 31st March, 1927, page 732, to the Puketawai Trig.
