At the Government House at Wellington, this 14th day of December, 1934.

HIS EXCELLENCE THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become Government roads.

License authorizing Timothy McMahon, of Mount Pleasant, Cronadun, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity and to erect certain Electric Lines.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 14th day of December, 1934.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCE THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to Timothy McMahon, of Mount Pleasant, a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of an unnamed stream in Section 26, Block VI, Reefton Survey District, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding one-half of one cubic foot per second at any one time, and to erect certain electric lines.

CONDITIONS.

  1. IMPLIED CONDITIONS.

THE conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

  1. UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.

Water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity for use by the licensee, and shall be taken from the stream at the point indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 87932, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works.

  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.

The licensee is hereby authorized to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the position of the works being indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 87932 hereinbefore referred to--

(a) Headworks consisting of an intake and water-race and pipe-lines leading to the power-house hereinafter referred to.

(b) Tail-race leading from the said power-house to the Boatman's Creek.

(c) A power-house with all necessary equipment including water turbines, generators, transformers, lightning-arresters, switchboards, switches, exciters, and other appliances for generating electricity.

(d) Electric lines from the power-house across an intervening road from the power-house to the licensee's residence on Section 26, Block VI, Reefton Survey District.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1956.

  1. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.

The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (c) of clause 5 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1927. The generating voltage and the transmission voltage shall be approximately 110 volts direct current.

  1. RENTAL.

For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of the license the licensee shall instal a maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department, or, failing such installation, the rental shall be determined on the maximum capacity of the generating plant installed. The present plant is rated at 4 kilowatt, and falls within the classes described in paragraph (b) of clause (2) of Regulation 6 of the Water-power Regulations, 1934.
