  1. The amending Order in Council made under the said Act on the 21st day of March, 1932, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of the same month, at page 572, is hereby consequentially revoked.

Authorizing Otago Central Electric-power Board to use Water from the Roaring Meg River for the Purpose of generating Electricity, and to erect and use Electric Lines within Portion of the Vincent County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 14th day of December, 1934.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, section seventy-six of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to the Otago Central Electric-power Board a license, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, to raise or lower the level of the Roaring Meg River in the Otago Land District, and to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters thereof so far as may be necessary to enable it to take and use, for the purposes hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding thirty cubic feet per second at any one time; and also to erect and use the electric lines described in the Schedule hereto, provided that all rights hereby granted shall be subject to the requirements of any irrigation-works undertaken or to be undertaken by the Government, and to all existing rights heretofore granted under the Mining Acts or otherwise; and for the purposes of section seventy-six of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, doth hereby authorize the said Board to construct the electrical works herein described, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

  1. IMPLIED CONDITIONS.

THE conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, shall, with the exception of clauses (1), (2), (6), and (17) of Regulation 6 thereof, be incorporated in and form part of this license, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

  1. LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.

This license is issued under the Water-power Regulations, 1934, and is subject thereto and also subject to the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1927, the Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1927, and any regulations made in amendment or amplification thereof or in substitution therefor.

  1. UTILIZATION OF WATER.

The said water shall be used by the licensee solely for the purpose of generating electricity.

  1. LOCATION OF WORKS.

The said water shall be taken from the said river at the headworks to be constructed at a point to be approved by the Minister at a reduced level of 1,690 ft. above sea-level, and the power-house shall be constructed at a reduced level of 726 ft. above sea-level, both points being near the confluence of the Roaring Meg and Kawarau Rivers.

  1. INSTALLED CAPACITY.

Within a period of two years after the date hereof the licensee shall install two generators of sufficient capacity to give a combined normal continuous output of 1,600 kilowatts, with a possible overload capacity of 2,000 kilowatts for two hours.

  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.

The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions herein contained, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the positions of the said works to be indicated on a locality plan to be supplied to the Minister before the works are commenced, and to be subject to the approval of the Minister:—

(a) Headworks consisting of weirs and necessary intakes:
(b) Races, penstocks, and pipe-lines leading from such weirs to the power-house hereinafter referred to; also tail-races from the power-house to the river:
(c) Power-house with all necessary equipment, including water-turbines, generators, transformers, lightning-arresters, switchboards, switches, exciters, and other appliances for generating electricity:
(d) Such transmission and other lines as may from time to time be required in, about, and for the purposes of the generating station, and also to transmit the electrical energy generated in accordance with this license from the power-house to the licensee’s area of supply by the most direct convenient route.
