THE following resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board held on the 31st day of January, 1934:—
“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the new securities authorized to be issued by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board under the above-mentioned Act and Orders entitled respectively the ‘Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board Loans Conversion Order, 1933,’ and the ‘Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board Loans Conversion Order, 1933 (No. 2),’ in conversion of existing securities issued in respect of the loans set out in the First Schedule to each such Order, and also the interest and other charges on the unconverted securities issued in respect of such loans, the said Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of sevenpence (7d.) in the pound (£1) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable property of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage District comprising the whole of the City of Dunedin and the Borough of St. Kilda, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such securities and be payable half-yearly on the first day of April and the first day of September in each and every year until the last maturity date of such securities, being the first day of April, 1956, or until all such securities are fully paid off.”

THE WAIMAKARIRI RIVER IMPROVEMENT AMENDMENT ACT, 1933 (LOCAL).
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the above Act was passed on the 20th day of December, 1933.
By the Act the Waimakariri River Trust is directed within two calendar months of the passing of the Act to publish in the Gazette and also publicly notify the general purport of sections 12 to 24 thereof, and to send a copy of such notice by ordinary post to all persons who it is reasonable to suppose are or may be interested in the lands affected. The following is the general purport of the above sections: The Waimakariri River Trust, on lodging a memorial with the District Land Registrar at Christchurch within twelve calendar months after the passing of the Act, and complying with any requisitions by him, is entitled to apply to be registered proprietor of an estate in fee-simple in respect of any of the lands generally described in the First Schedule to the Act.
On receipt of the memorial the District Land Registrar is to send notice by registered post to any persons having any interest in the lands referred to in the memorial, cause the memorial to be registered against the certificate of title affected, and after the expiration of six months from date of receipt by him of the memorial and the satisfaction of any of his requisitions issue to the Trust certificates of title for an estate in fee-simple free of all encumbrances.
All persons claiming to have any interest in the lands affected by the Act are entitled to claim compensation for any damage they may sustain by the operation of the Act.
Any such claim must be served upon the Trust within six months after the posting of the notice above referred to by the District Land Registrar, otherwise it ceases.
The procedure on any such claims is as nearly as may be the same as on claims under Part III of the Public Works Act, 1928.
The Trust is empowered by memorial to the District Land Registrar to abandon any of its rights under the Act, and on such abandonment any claim for compensation abates, except as to costs awarded by the Court, and the land shall then revert to the previous owners.
The lands affected are shown on plans L.P. 1266 to 1275 (both inclusive), which are deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, at Christchurch, and copies are also open for inspection at the office of the Trust, Commerce Hall, corner of Worcester Street and Oxford Terrace, Christchurch, during office hours.
The acceptance by the District Land Registrar at Christchurch of any plans for deposit is conclusive evidence that the lands comprised in such plans are lands comprised in the said plans L.P. 1266 to 1275 (both inclusive).
The District Land Registrar is empowered at his discretion to issue certificates of title to any persons whom he may deem entitled to lands affected by any memorial of abandonment, and he is also authorized on the partial cancellation of any existing title to reissue the title partially cancelled or issue a new certificate of title.
Any compensation to be paid is payable by the Trust and the Crown is under no liability.
The following is a copy of the First Schedule.
