Buller County.—Mokihinui Survey District.—Karamea Mining District.

(National Endowment.)

Section 3, Block VIII, and Section 7, Block XII: Area, 1,236 acres. Capital value, £260; half-yearly rent, £5 4s.

Weighted with £670 for improvements comprising two cottages, hay-shed, cow-byre, 200 chains mixed fencing, 300 acres felled and burned, and 40 acres cleared and stumped. Of this amount approximately £560 may remain on mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for, say, thirty years, at 6 per cent. interest. Terms may also be arranged for payment of the balance under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Account.

This area is situated on the Mokihinui–Karamea Road, three miles from Corbyvale, nine miles from Summerlea School, eight miles from Mokihinui Railway-station, thirty-six miles from Buller Dairy Factory, and sixty-six miles from Inangahua Junction Saleyards. Access is by formed and metalled road. The land is suitable for grazing but dairying could be carried on if the cartage of cream to the Main Road was made easier. There are some 180 acres of fairly flat land, part of which has been flooded by slips, balance is hillside. The flat portion of this holding, on which a dwelling has been erected, is 400 ft. below the level of the road. Altitude from 400 ft. to 1,200 ft. Soil is of good quality on creek flats resting on papa and sandstone but poorer on the hillside; watered by streams. Approximately 300 acres have been felled and grassed, 3 acres felled and stumped, and 933 acres are in their natural state. About 120 acres could be improved by cutting scrub, fencing, and top-dressing. There are 200 chains of mixed fencing and the property has been subdivided into nine paddocks. No noxious weeds or rabbits.

Murchison County.—Matakitaki Survey District.—Westland Mining District.

(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.)

Section 21, Block VI: Area, 367 acres. Capital value, £200; half-yearly rent, £4.

This area is situated on the Upper Matakitaki Road, three-quarters of a mile from Upper Matakitaki Post-office, one mile and a half from Upper Matakitaki School, eighteen miles and a half from Murchison Dairy Factory and Saleyards. Access is by eighteen miles and a half of metalled road. The land is suitable for rough grazing, cream collected one mile from section. Altitude, 1,300 ft. to 3,000 ft. There is a small flat along the frontage, balance steep hillside. Soil is poor, resting on sandstone and granite; watered by streams. All in natural state. The area has not been subdivided. Blackberry is bad along frontage, but there are no rabbits.

Murchison County.—Matiri Survey District.—Westland Mining District.

Part Section 9, Block XVI: Area, 409 acres. Capital value, £155; half-yearly rent, £3 2s.

Weighted with £20 (payable in cash) for improvements comprising 40 acres felled and grassed.

This property is situated on the Nuggetty Creek Road, six miles from Mangarata Post-office, twenty miles from Glenhope Railway-station, twelve miles from Murchison Dairy Factory and Saleyards. Access is by five miles partly metalled bridle-track from the main Coast Road. This property is suitable for grazing. The area is flat to undulating along the creek, hills easy slopes. Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 2,400 ft. Soil fair along creek, poor on slopes resting on sandstone; watered by streams. Approximately 40 acres have been felled and grassed and the balance is in its natural state. Property has not been subdivided. No rabbits or noxious weeds.
