SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Mapara Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.*)
SECTION 4, Block III: Area, 531 acres. Capital value, £265; half-yearly rent, £5 6s.
- After payment of first half-year's rent, lease fee, and broken period rent (if any), a remission of rent will be allowed for a period of five years, provided improvements to the value of £40 are effected annually during the exemption period.
Weighted with £100 for improvements, comprising dwelling, shed, about 190 chains fencing, and approximately 8 acres broken from natural state. This amount may be paid in cash or taken over by way of first mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Office, for a period of thirty years with interest at the rate of 6 per cent. A remission of the interest payable under such mortgage will be allowed for a period of two years.
This property is situated on the Kura Kura Road, about eight miles from Kopaki Post-office, Railway-station, and Saleyards, and about one mile and a half from Aramatai School. Access is from Kopaki by metalled road. The section comprises about 50 acres easy country in front, 50 acres rhyolite bluffs, and balance tableland. The country has mostly reverted to its natural state.

Land in Southland Land District, Otago Mining District, for Selection on Renewable Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 17th July, 1934.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 19th July, 1934, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
The land is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessees whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OTAGO MINING DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)
SECTION 39, Block XIX: Area, 299 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £300; half-yearly rent, £8.
Situated on the west side of the Pourakino River, about eight miles from Riverton, about four miles from Waiango Post-office and School, and five miles and a half from Aparima Dairy Factory. Metalled road to within a few chains of section.
The land is undulating to hilly bush country, altitude 20 ft. to 210 ft. All milling-timber has been removed. When cleared and grassed will be suitable for dairying and mixed farming.
- After payment of the first half-year's and broken period rent no further rent will be charged for a period of three years, provided improvements to the value of £30 per annum are effected during the exemption period.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

Rotorua, 6th June, 1934.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Rotorua, at 4 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 20th day of June, 1934.

SCHEDULE.
ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber specified in that area, containing approximately 40 acres, situated in Block IV, Patetere North-east Survey District (portion of State Forest No. 3), about ten miles from Mamaku Railway-station.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 56,661, or in board feet 391,500, made up as follows:—

Time for Removal of Timber: Six months.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for £200 of the purchase-money and £1 1s. license fee must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid in two equal instalments, the first of which shall be paid two months after the date of sale and the other four months after the date of sale.
Terms and Conditions.

All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921-22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.

The attention of tenderers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful tenderer to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

Each tenderer must state the total price that he is prepared to pay for the timber. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted, and the timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the tender by the Commissioner of State Forests.

The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber either before or after the closing date for receipt of tenders.

If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application at the upset price until further notice.

Tenders should be on the special form obtainable from any office of the State Forest Service, and should be enclosed in envelopes addressed “Conservator of Forests, Rotorua,” and endorsed “Tender for Timber.”
The conditions, which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and further particulars may be obtained on application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry, Wellington.
