Notifying Land in Auckland Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

Wellington, 9th May, 1934.
PURSUANT to the provisions of subsection (2) of section 48 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, notice is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being the land known as Horahia Settlement, was acquired by the Crown on the 17th day of July, 1919, and became subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, as from that date.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—HORAHIA SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Thames County, situated in Block II, Waihou Survey District, containing by admeasurement 389 acres 0 roods 30 perches, more or less, and being Lots 2, 3, and 4 (on deposited plan 10751) of part of Horahia-Opou No. 4B Block, and being all the land contained in Certificates of Title, Volume 256, folios 154, 155, and 156, respectively. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 26/2/21, deposited under No. 2685, in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. Notice respecting Proposed Constitution of Borough of Matamata.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 10th May, 1934.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted as the Borough of Matamata. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed constitution of such borough which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED AS THE BOROUGH OF MATAMATA.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks II and III, Tapapa Survey District, bounded towards the north-east by Section 15, Matamata Settlement, from its westernmost corner to a point 1000 links from its southernmost corner; thence towards the north-west by a line bearing 60° 14′, distance 1300 links; thence again towards the north-east by a line bearing 150° 14′, distance 1000 links, across a public road 200 links wide, and by Section 40, 1157·6 links; thence towards the south-east by lines bearing 240° 14′, distance 3800·9 links, 216° 38′ 30″, distance 6753·2 links; thence towards the south-west by a line bearing 300° 25′, across a public road 200 links wide, by that line continued across the Rotorua-Auckland Railway and a public road 100 links wide, and that line continued to Section 106; thence again towards the north-west by the aforesaid Section 106, to and across a public road 100 links wide, and by Section 107; thence again towards the south-west by the aforesaid Section 107 and Sections 110, 109, and 82, and across a public road 100 links wide; thence again towards the north-west by Section 2, by a line across a public road 100 links wide, across the Rotorua-Auckland Railway, and again across a public road 100 links wide, and by Section 13 to the place of commencement; all the aforesaid sections being of the Matamata Settlement and described on page 1973 of the New Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 10th May, 1917.

Amending Rules for the Examination of Engineers.
Marine Department,
Wellington, 9th May, 1934.
WHEREAS by Warrant dated the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, and published in the Gazette of the fifth day of March following, at page 479, rules were made relating to the examination of engineers in the Mercantile Marine:
And whereas it is desirable to further amend the said rules:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 23 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I do hereby make the following amendments to the hereinbefore-recited rules.
RULES.
- RULE 38 (b) (2) is hereby revoked and the following rule substituted therefor:—
“38. (b) (2) Have served at sea, in home-trade steamships of not less than 99 nominal horsepower and/or home-trade motor-ships of not less than 560 brake horse-power, for two years and three months as first or second engineer; or three years as third or fourth engineer, being senior engineer in charge of the whole watch on the main propelling machinery.”
- Rule 46 is hereby amended by adding to the end of the said rule the following paragraph:—
“Candidates who qualify by service as second in seniority in the engine-room or as assistant engineer below this rank will be subjected to a somewhat more searching examination than those who have performed the required amount of service while in charge of a full watch.”

Removal of Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence for A. J. Richards, Otahuhu.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand being satisfied that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is no longer engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, hereby rescinds the order made on the 23rd day of April, 1934, under the provisions of section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, prohibiting the issue of money-orders in favour of and the transmission within New Zealand of postal packets addressed to the said person, and orders that such money-orders shall be issued and that such postal packets shall be registered, forwarded, and delivered in the usual course.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the persons whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of any of the said persons shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to any of the said persons (either by his or her own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to any of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
