Order in Council varying the Determinations in respect of Part—
viz., £1,700—of the Rodney County Council’s Loan of £2,000.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 14th day of
April, 1934.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the second day
of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirty,
and subject to the determinations as to borrowing and repay-
ment therein set out, consent was given to the raising by the
Rodney County Council (hereinafter called the “ said local
authority ”) of the sum of two thousand pounds (£2,000) by
a loan to be known as “ Tomarata Valley Loan, 1929 ”
(hereinafter called “ the said loan ”):
And whereas the said loan has not yet been raised and it is
expedient to vary certain of the determinations aforesaid in
respect of part thereof—namely, the sum of one thousand
seven hundred pounds (£1,700):
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the Local
Government Loans Board Act, 1926, as set out in section
twenty-nine of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2), and by section
thirty-two of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all
other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth
hereby vary certain of the determinations aforesaid by con-
senting to the raising by the said local authority of the said
sum of one thousand seven hundred pounds (£1,700) or any
part thereof upon terms of making the same, together with
interest thereon at a rate not exceeding four pounds five
shillings (£4 5s.) per centum per annum, repayable by equal
aggregate half-yearly instalments extending over a period
not exceeding twenty (20) years.

Order in Council varying the Rate of Interest in respect of the
Auckland City Council’s Loan of £146,700.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 27th day of
April, 1934.

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the twelfth
day of February, one thousand nine hundred and
thirty-four, and subject to the determinations as to borrowing
and repayment therein set out, consent was given to the
raising in London by the Auckland City Council (hereinafter
called “ the said local authority ”) of the sum of one hundred
and forty-six thousand seven hundred pounds (£146,700) by
a loan to be known as “ Waterworks Extension and Improve-
ment Loan (£150,000) Redemption Loan, 1934 ” (hereinafter
called “ the said loan ”):
And whereas one of the determinations aforesaid is that the
rate of interest that may be paid in respect of the said loan
shall not exceed four pounds (£4) per centum per annum:
And whereas the said loan has not yet been raised, and it
is expedient to vary such determination:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on him by section eleven of the Local Government
Loans Board Act, 1926, as set out in section twenty-nine
of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2), and of all other powers
and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby
vary the determination aforesaid by prescribing that the rate
of interest that may be paid in respect of the said loan or
any part thereof shall be such as shall not produce to the
lender or lenders a rate exceeding four pounds five shillings
(£4 5s.) per centum per annum.

Regulations relating to Registration-plates under the Motor-
vehicles Act, 1924.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 27th day of

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him
by section thirty-six of the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924
(hereinafter referred to as “ the said Act ”), and of all other
powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doth hereby revoke the Regulations under the Motor-vehicles
Act, 1924, dated the twelfth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-four, the fifth day of March, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, the twenty-fifth
day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and
the fifteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and
thirty-three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on
the twelfth day of December, one thousand nine hundred
and twenty-four, the eighth day of March, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-eight, the twenty-seventh day of
May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and the
eighteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and
thirty-three, and doth hereby make the following regulations
in lieu thereof, and doth hereby declare that such revocation
shall take effect and the regulations hereby made shall come
into force on the date of publication of this Order in Council
in the Gazette.
REGULATIONS.

THESE regulations may be cited as the Motor-vehicles
(Registration-plate) Regulations, 1934. -
(1) Every application for the registration of a motor-
vehicle shall be in the form numbered 1 in the Schedule
hereto or to the effect thereof.
(2) Every certificate of registration issued pursuant to
section 6 of the said Act shall be in the form numbered 2 in
the said Schedule.
- (1) The distinguishing marks to be kept affixed to any
registered motor-vehicle, as required by section 6 of the said
Act, or issued under section 6 of the Motor-vehicles Amend-
ment Act, 1927, shall be exhibited on two plates (in these
regulations referred to as registration-plates) which shall be
fixed one on the front and the other on the back of the motor-
vehicle, in an upright position, so that every letter and figure
on the plate is upright and easily distinguishable.
(2) This regulation shall also apply in the case of registra-
tion-plates issued under section 18 of the said Act.

For the licensing year commencing on the 1st day of
June, 1934, and for subsequent years, all registration-plates
shall be metal plates, which for vehicles other than motor-
cycles shall be approximately 13¾ in. long and 4¾ in. high, and
for motor-cycles shall be approximately 7½ in. long and
4½ in. high. -
The distinguishing marks to be exhibited on the said
registration-plates shall be as follows :—
(a) (i) For private motor-cars, as defined by the said
Act, other than caravans (as defined in Regulation 6
hereof), and excluding private-hire and rental cars,
as defined in the Motor-vehicles Insurance (Third-
party Risks) Regulations, 1934, a series of numerals
from 301 to 99,999 inclusive, without initial letter,
and also a series of numerals from 1 onwards preceded
by the letter X.
(ii) For motor-cycles a series of numerals from 1
onwards without initial letter.
(iii) For private-hire or rental cars a series of
numerals from 1 to 300, inclusive, without initial
letter.
(b) In the case of registration-plates issued to manufac-
turers and dealers in motor-vehicles in terms of
section 18 of the said Act, a series of numerals
preceded by the letter D.
(c) For motor-vehicles exempt from license fees in terms of
section 11 of the said Act (other than motor-vehicles
the property of the Crown and motor-cycles), a
series of numerals preceded by the letter E.
(d) For motor-vehicles (other than motor-cycles) the pro-
perty of the Crown, a series of numerals preceded
by the letters GOVT, unless permission to the con-
trary is obtained from the Minister of Transport.
