THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
[No. 20

  1. No person shall in any one day take or kill more than ten head of cock pheasants or more than twenty head in all of Californian and Australian quail, or more than twenty head in all of grey duck, black teal, and black swan, or more than fifteen head in all of grey duck and black teal, or take or kill more than twenty head of godwits.

  2. Excepted areas wherein imported game and/or native game shall not be taken or killed during the open season:—
    All those areas comprising the Town Districts of Kawakawa, Kaikohe, Kohukohu, Rawene, and Russell.

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, being Te Moke Block, containing 302 acres, and part of Tiakapara Block, containing 71 acres 3 roods, situated in Block XII, Kawakawa Survey District.

All that area, being Lots 168, 169, and 170, Parish of Kawakawa, containing 447 acres, the property of Richard Augustus Hall.

All those areas situate in Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, comprising part Section 140, Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, containing 167 acres 1 rood 24 perches, part Waipuna Block, containing 373 acres 2 roods 17 perches, Taumataumakuku No. 1, 196 acres 2 roods 30 perches, Section 45, Kawakawa Parish, 40 acres, Sections 47, 48, 49, and 50, Kawakawa Parish, 160 acres, Lot part 1, 2, 3, on D.P. 12753 of 140 of Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, and part Waipuna Block, containing 499 acres 3 roods 9 perches, the property of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Co., Ltd.

FEILDING AND DISTRICT ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
(As described in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of 12th March, 1925, at page 750.)

  1. Season for cock pheasants (except in the area bounded on the north by Junction Road, on the east by Makino Road, on the south by Mangone Road, and on the west by Stanway Road), and for Californian quail and Australian quail: 1st May to 31st July, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  2. Season for mallard duck, grey duck, and black swan: 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  3. Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game within the Feilding and District Acclimatization District will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and the Secretary of the Feilding and District Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  4. No person shall in any one day take or kill imported game exceeding in number twenty-five head in all of cock pheasants, Californian quail, and Australian quail, or take or kill more than twenty-five head in all of grey duck, mallard duck, and black swan, or take or kill more than ten head of grey duck and/or mallard duck.

MARLBOROUGH ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
(As described in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of 12th March, 1925, at page 751.)

  1. Season for grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan: 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  2. Season for Californian quail: 1st May to 31st July, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  3. Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game within the Marlborough Acclimatization District will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and the Secretary of the Marlborough Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  4. No person shall in any one day take or kill more than twenty-five head of Californian quail, or take or kill more than twenty-five head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan, or take or kill more than fifteen head in all of grey duck and spoonbill duck, or take or kill more than ten head of grey duck.

  5. Excepted area wherein imported game and/or native game shall not be taken or killed during the open season:—
    Marlborough Electric-power Board’s dam at Waihopai.

NELSON ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
(As described in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of 12th March, 1925, at page 751.)

  1. Season for grey duck: 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  2. Season for Californian quail: 1st May to 31st July, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  3. Season for black swan (only in areas included in County of Collingwood, comprising the tidal flats extending from the lighthouse at Cape Farewell along the northern shores of Golden Bay to Puponga): 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  4. Season for godwits: 1st February to 31st March, 1935 (both days inclusive).

  5. Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game (including godwits) within the Nelson Acclimatization District will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and the Chief Postmaster at Nelson and the Postmasters at Motueka, Motupiko, Wakefield, Murchison, and Rociiton are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses, and licenses to take or kill such native game only (viz., godwits) will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Chief Postmaster at Nelson and the Postmasters at Motueka, Takaka, and Collingwood are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  6. No person shall in any one day take or kill more than twenty head of Californian quail, or take or kill more than five head of black swan, or take or kill more than ten head of grey duck, or take or kill more than twenty head of godwits.

  7. Nothing herein shall apply to Californian quail in the County of Murchison in which county protection has been removed from Californian quail.

  8. Excepted areas wherein imported game and/or native game shall not be taken or killed during the open season:—
    (1) Lake Rotoiti.
    (2) The Waima Electric Co.’s two dams on the Wairoa River at Brightwater.
    (3) Lake Matiri.

NORTH CANTERBURY ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
(As described in New Zealand Gazette No. 68, of 28th September, 1933, at page 2463.)

  1. Season for mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan: 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  2. Season for Californian quail: 1st May to 31st July, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  3. Season for paradise duck: 1st May to 7th May, 1934 (both days inclusive).

  4. Season for godwit: 1st February to 31st March, 1935 (both days inclusive).

  5. Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game, including godwits, within the North Canterbury Acclimatization District will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and licenses to take or kill the following native game—viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck (or shoveller), paradise duck, and black swan—will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each; and licenses to take or kill the following native game—viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of the North Canterbury Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  6. No person shall in any one day take or kill more than fifteen head of Californian quail, or take or kill more than five head of paradise duck, or take or kill more than ten head of grey duck or more than ten head of spoonbill duck or more than ten head of mallard duck: Provided that not more than fifteen head in all of grey duck, paradise duck, and spoonbill duck may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day, or take or kill more than fifteen head of black swan or take or kill more than twenty head of godwit.

  7. No device or structure other than a hut made of scrub or rushes or a mud-hole or a mai-mai shall be used on or out of which native game may be taken or killed on or near Lake Ellesmere.

  8. A mud-hole shall be constructed solely by means of the excavation of the soil, and no timber, metal, or other material shall be used in the construction thereof.

  9. No hut, mud-hole, or mai-mai shall be used in any part of Lake Ellesmere in which the water is of a greater depth than twenty-four inches.

  10. Notwithstanding anything contained in conditions 6 to 8 hereof, a boat concealed among the vegetation growing along or near the margin of Lake Ellesmere may be used for the purpose of taking or killing native game on or near such lake, or such boat may be used for the purpose of recovering native game which has been shot (provided that no boat so used shall be artificially dressed or covered in any way).

  11. Excepted areas wherein imported game and/or native game shall not be taken or killed during the open season:—
    (1) All that area in the County of Akaroa, situated in the Akaroa and Ellesmere Survey Districts, Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,540 acres, more or less, being the lake known as Lake Forsyth, including all roads fronting on the shores of the said lake; and all those reserves in the said county and survey districts numbered 3186, 3187, 3185, 2003, 890, and 157, excluding therefrom Native Reserve 385 adjoining Lake Forsyth, and those portions of R.S. 2474, 4804, and 6012, being the flat land adjoining Okute and Little River Streams and Lake Forsyth.
