Open Seasons for Imported and/or Native Game in certain Acclimatization Districts.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, James Alexander Young, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend the Warrant dated 9th March, 1934, made under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 14 of the 12th idem., at page 520, by deleting all that portion of such Warrant included under the headings “Bay of Islands, Feilding and District, Marlborough, Nelson, North Canterbury, Otago, and Taranaki Acclimatization Districts,” and do hereby revoke the Warrant dated 19th day of March, 1934, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd day of March, 1934, No. 17, at page 678, declaring an open season for imported and native game in the Wellington Acclimatization District, and do hereby declare open seasons for imported game and/or native game, of the kinds hereinafter specified, in the acclimatization districts specified hereunder, except in the areas shown under the heading “Excepted Areas,” during the periods set forth in connection with each district, subject in all cases to the following general conditions and subject to the special conditions specified in connection with each district. Any person taking or killing any imported game or native game otherwise than in terms of this notification (including the general conditions hereinafter set out and the special conditions specified in connection with any acclimatization district), is liable on conviction to a fine of £20.
GENERAL CONDITIONS.

No person shall commence shooting earlier than one hour before sunrise or continue shooting later than one hour after sunset on any day during the open season concerned.

No person shall use live birds of any species as decoys nor use artificial decoys so that more than fifteen artificial decoys are used at any one time (whether by one or several persons) on any particular water within an area of less than 100 yards square.

No person shall use or cause to be used any motor-vehicle in connection with the taking or killing of imported game and/or native game: Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as to prohibit the use of any motor-vehicle for the purpose of travelling either generally or to or from a rendezvous.

No person shall use or cause to be used for the purpose of taking or killing any imported or native game any unmoored floating stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, or any boat artificially dressed or covered in any way.

No person engaged in shooting from any shelter, maimai, mud-hole, boat, louvre, or other contrivance shall have or use more than one gun.

Season for cock pheasants, Californian quail, Australian quail, grey duck, black teal, and black swan: 1st May to 30th June, 1934 (inclusive).

Season for godwit: 1st February to 31st March, 1935 (inclusive).

Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game (including godwits) within the Bay of Islands Acclimatization District will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and licenses to take or kill the following native game only—viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of the Bay of Islands Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.
