Alterations to the Scales of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling it under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, the Government Railways Board hereby resolves to make the following alterations in the General Scale of Charges made on the 4th day of November, 1931, and published in the Gazette of the 13th day of November, 1931, and to the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 19th day of October, 1933, and published in the Gazette of the 26th day of October, 1933, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.
PASSENGERS.
4. Sleeping-berths.
Paragraph 3: After the word “Auckland” in the fifth line by inserting “New Plymouth.”
Paragraph 5: After the words “Auckland—Wellington Express trains” by inserting “New Plymouth—Taumarunui Express trains.”
By omitting from paragraph 6 the following:—
In special sleeping cars .. .. .. .. s. 25
And inserting in lieu thereof the following:—
In special sleeping cars .. .. .. .. s. 20
12. Ordinary Season Tickets.
By omitting from paragraph 1 “7/10½” (the cost for every mile above twenty miles, for a first-class ticket available for twelve months), and inserting in lieu thereof “7/1.”
LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.
45. Checked Luggage.
Paragraph 16: After the words “shipping company” in last line add the words “road motor service.”
46. Excess Luggage.
By omitting from paragraph 16 the following:—
Bicycles .. .. .. .. 6s. each.
And substituting the following:—
Bicycles .. .. .. .. 5s. each.
55. Parcels Rates.
By omitting from paragraph 11 the following:—
Bicycles, pedal (not packed in cases or crates), to seat one rider.
Bicycle and motor-bicycle rims, wheels, frames, forks, or mudguards.
And substituting the following:—
Bicycles, pedal, set up (not packed in cases or crates), to seat one rider.
By adding new paragraph 13A:—
13A. Bicycles, pedal, set up (not packed in cases or crates) to seat one rider, each machine will be charged as 28 lb. at rate and a quarter of the rates specified in paragraph 1 of this regulation. Bicycles, pedal, packed in cases or crates will be charged at rate and a quarter of the rates specified in paragraph 1 of this regulation, computed on actual weight.
68. CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS, LIVE-STOCK, ETC.
By omitting the following:—
Bicycles, motor, not otherwise specified. See Regulation 53.
Cheese in jars or tins and packed in boxes or cases. Owner’s risk .. Class. A
By inserting the following:—
Bicycles, motor, not otherwise specified. See Regulation 55.
Cheese, fancy, in jars, tins, or cartons, packed in boxes or cases. Class. C

By adding to clauses (b) and (c), paragraph 1, the following:—
