Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 10th January, 1934.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m., on Monday, 19th February, 1934.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 21st February, 1934, at 10 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Mapara Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for one year.*)
SECTION 1, Block XI: Area, 402 acres 0 roods 27 perches. Capital value, £400; half-yearly rent, £8.
- After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and broken period rent, a remission of rent will be allowed for one year provided improvements to value of £30 are effected.
Weighted with £497 for improvements, comprising whare, wool-shed and yards, about 186 chains fencing, and about 216 acres surface-sown pasture. This amount may be paid in cash, or after payment of a cash deposit of £7 the balance (£490) may be secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum.
The property is situated on the Patoto Road, about three miles from Mokauiti Post-office and School and about eighteen miles from Waimiha Railway-station. Access is from Waimiha by metalled road for a distance of about sixteen miles and thence by formed clay road. The soil is of light loam resting on clay and papa formation. About 16 acres is in good pasture, 200 acres in worn-out pasture, and 186 acres comprises scrub and second growth.
Taumarunui County.—Rangi Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for one year.*)
Section 6, Block IV: Area, 225 acres. Capital value, £300; half-yearly rent, £6.
- After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and broken period rent, a remission of rent will be allowed for a period of one year provided improvements to the value of £30 are effected.
Weighted with £545 for improvements, comprising dwelling (three rooms), three sheds, and cow-byre, about 400 chains fencing, and approximately 100 acres clearing and grassing. This amount may be paid in cash, or after payment of a cash deposit of £335 the balance (£210) may be secured on first mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum.
The property is situated on the main Te Kuiti Highway, and is about two miles from Okahukura and about one mile and a half from Taringamutu Railway-station. Access is by good metalled road from Taumarunui. About 25 acres comprise level alluvial soil, about 40 acres terrace land, and the balance is hilly to steep. Approximately 35 acres in good pasture, 65 acres in worn-out pasture, and 125 acres bush land deteriorated to scrub.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Hawera County.—Opaku Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.*)
Section 1, Block III: Area, 1,026 acres. Capital value, £250; half-yearly rent, £5.
- After payment of first half-year’s rent, lease fee, and broken period rent, a remission of rent will be allowed for a period of five years provided improvements to the value of £25 are effected annually during the exemption period.
Weighted with £1,160 for improvements, comprising dwelling (four rooms), yards, approximately 190 chains fencing, and 610 acres felled and burned in fair pasture. This amount may be paid in cash, or after payment of £450 cash the balance (£710) may be taken over by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum; half-yearly instalment £25 13s. A remission of interest payable under the mortgage will be allowed for a period of two years provided improvements to the value of double the amount remitted are effected annually.
This property is situated on the Whenuakura Valley Road, about seven miles from Omona Post-office and Half-time School, and about twenty-eight miles from Eltham. Access is from Eltham by twenty-three miles metalled road and five miles clay road. The soil is of fair quality loam resting on papa and sandstone formation. The property comprises approximately 610 acres in fair pasture, 100 acres in fern, &c., and 316 acres in natural state.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 14th February, 1934, at 10 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Waitaki County.—Windsor Park No. 1 Settlement.
SECTION 37A: Area, 60 acres. Capital value, £500; half-yearly rent, £12 10s.
Weighted with £25 (to be paid in cash) for improvements comprising internal and boundary fencing.
Situated on Oamaru-Ngapara Road, about two miles and a half from Enfield Post-office, School, and Station, and eight miles from Waiareka Saleyards. Access is by side road from Enfield. The soil is of light quality resting on clay and gravel formation; watered by springs. Section, which is suitable for cropping and grazing, is steep and broken; altitude about 300 ft., and about two-thirds back-lying.
