other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Marlborough County.—Heringa Survey District.

(National Endowment.)

SECTIONS 8 and 11, Block VII: Area, 1,057 acres. Capital
value, £330; half-yearly rent, £6 12s.

Weighted with £700 for improvements, consisting of five-
roomed dwelling, washhouse, and dairy, wool-shed and cow-
byre, garage, clearing and sowing, stumping and cultivation,
176 chains of internal fencing, and half-share in 8 chains of
boundary-fencing. This sum may be paid in cash, or by a
deposit of £125, the balance, £575, remaining on mortgage
to the Superintendent, State Advances Department, payable
over a period of thirty years (interest at 6 per cent.) by
half-yearly instalments of principal and interest totalling
£20 15s. 6d.

This property is situated on the Pelorus River, and adjoins
the Maungatapu Road about six miles from the Blenheim-
Nelson Main Highway, the last four miles of road being poor.
It is six miles from the Rai Falls School and Post-office, and
fourteen miles from the Canvastown Dairy Factory.

For the most part the land is poor, running to an altitude
of 2,140 ft., resting on clay and rock formation. About
657 acres are still in native bush, about 400 acres of which
contains fairly good milling-timber in a rather inaccessible
situation. The balance, 400 acres, has been cleared, and
altogether 300 acres have gone back into fern, intermingled
with danthonia, the other 100 acres, near the homestead, are
in good order, being practically all in danthonia.

Education Reserve in Canterbury Land District for Lease by
Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 6th December, 1933.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land
will be offered for lease by public tender, and written
tenders, marked on the outside “Tender for Education
Reserve,” will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Christchurch, up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 8th January,
1934, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act,
1928, and the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—EDUCATION RESERVE.

Oxford County.—Mairaki Survey District.

RESERVE 1186, Blocks I and V: Area, 75 acres 1 rood
5 perches. Minimum annual rental, £55.

Situated on unformed branch road, half a mile off the
Carlton-Ashley Road, and distant about six miles from
Oxford Post-office, Saleyards, and School, and about three
miles and a half from Carlton Railway-station. Comprises
flat low-lying land, subject to undercurrent and flooding in
wet season. Subdivided into four paddocks, suitable for
cropping, grazing, oats, green feed, and turnips. Watered
by race.

Present condition: 20 acres sown in young grass, 20 acres
part cultivated in self-sown oats and twitch, 28 acres old
grass, pasture, and rushes, 6 acres green feed.

The improvements, which are included in the capital
value, comprise 110 chains gorse, post, stake, standard, and
wire fencing.

Six months’ rent at the rate offered, £2 2s. lease fee, and rent
for period between date of lease and 1st July, 1934, must be
deposited on acceptance of tender.

Term of lease, twenty-one years, with perpetual right of
renewal for further similar terms at rentals based on fresh
valuations under the provisions of the Public Bodies’ Leases
Act, 1908.

Form of lease may be perused and full particulars obtained
from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch.

MAORI LAND NOTICE.

Native Lands for Lease by Public Tender.

Office of the Aotea District Maori Land Board,
Wanganui, 20th November, 1933.

NOTICE is hereby given in terms of the Native Land
Act, 1931, and its amendments, and the regulations
thereunder, that written tenders will be received at the office
of the Aotea District Maori Land Board, Wanganui, up to
3 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 18th December, 1933, for the
leases of the lands described in the Schedule hereto, on the
following terms and conditions:—

  1. Each lot must be tendered for separately on the pre-
    scribed form and each tender must be accompanied by a
    deposit equal to six months’ rent at the rate tendered.

  2. The successful tenderer will be entitled to possession on
    receipt of a notification of the acceptance of his tender.

  3. Deposits with tenders which are not accepted will be
    returned to the respective tenderers.

  4. Each successful tenderer of Lots 1 to 4 must lodge a
    declaration to the effect that he is not prohibited under
    Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1931 (relating to limitation of
    area), from acquiring the area tendered for.

  5. The term of the leases of Lots 1 to 4 will be twelve years
    from 1st January, 1934, with right of renewal for one further
    term of twelve years, and for Lots 5 to 9, twenty-one years with
    right of renewal for twenty-one years.

  6. Compensation for substantial improvements effected by
    the lessee of Lots 1 to 4 will be allowed as provided in sec-
    tion 327 of the Native Land Act, 1931.

Full particulars and tender forms may be obtained at the
office of the Aotea District Maori Land Board, Wanganui,
where plans of the sections may be inspected.

Lot 1.—Section 20, Block XII, Rarete Survey District:
Area, 373 acres. Upset annual rental, £3 3s.

Loaded with £210 for improvements, consisting of a wooden
shed, bushfelling, and grassing.

Successful tenderer may arrange for loading for improve-
ments to be secured by a table mortgage to the State Advances
Superintendent for a period of twenty years at 6 per cent.
Interest would be remitted for a period of two years on lessee
effecting substantial permanent improvements equivalent to
interest remitted.

Property is situated on the Mangoihe Road, two miles and
a half from main Pipiriki–Raetihi Road. Approximately
200 acres felled and grassed, of which 15 to 20 acres flat.
Remainder in bush on steep face. Portion of cleared area has
reverted to second growth.

Lot 2.—Section 4, Block V, Makotuku Survey District:
Area, 542 acres. Upset annual rental, £7 18s. 3d.

Loaded with £550 for improvements, consisting of a house
in a bad state of repair, clearing, grassing, and fencing.

Successful tenderer may arrange for loading for improve-
ments to be secured by a table mortgage to the State Advances
Superintendent for a period of twenty years at 6 per cent.
Interest would be remitted for a period of two years on lessee
effecting substantial permanent improvements equivalent to
interest remitted.

Property is situated on Pipiriki–Raetihi Road, about six
miles from Raetihi, on metalled road.

Lot 3.—Section 9, Block VIII, Rarete Survey District:
Area, 1,143 acres. Upset annual rental, £21 8s.

Loaded with £1,150 10s. for improvements, consisting of a
one-roomed whare, clearing, fencing, and grassing.

The successful tenderer may arrange for the loading for
improvements being secured by a table mortgage to the
State Advances Superintendent with interest at 6 per cent.

Property is situated on Huikumu Road, about one mile and a
half from junction Pipiriki–Raetihi Road and was formerly
occupied by E. E. Stuckey.

Lot 4.—Part Section 5, Block XV, Makotuku Survey Dis-
trict, D.P. 9287: Area, 63 acres 3 roods. Upset annual
rental, £23. Property is situate on the Raetihi-Parapara Road,
about ten miles from Raetihi, and adjoins the properties of
Kopeke te Wiki and Mr. C. G. Houghton. This is a partly-
improved property under rough mixed pasture and partly
fenced.

Lot 5.—Sections 1 to 9, Block I, Turangarere Township:
Area, 4 acres 2 roods 3 perches. Upset annual rental, £1 16s.

Lot 6.—Sections 1 to 3, Block II, Turangarere Township:
Area, 3 acres 0 roods 4 perches. Upset annual rental, £1 4s.

Lot 7.—Sections 1 to 7, 10 to 13, and 15 and 16, Block III,
Turangarere Township: Area, 4 acres 1 rood 3 perches.
Upset annual rental, £1 13s.

Lot 8.—Sections 1 to 10, 12, and 15 to 18, Block IV,
Turangarere Township: Area, 4 acres 0 roods 16 perches.
Upset annual rental, £1 12s.

Lot 9.—Section 7, Block V, Turangarere Township: Area,
2 acres 3 roods 1 perch. Upset annual rental, £1 5s.

Lots 5 to 9 are situated on the right bank of the Hautapu
River adjoining the Hihitahi Railway-station, about eleven
miles from Taihape, and comprise easy undulating country in
English and Native grasses. The soil is of a light porous
nature.
