SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL-ENDOWMENT LAND.
Marlborough County.—Mount Olympus Survey District.
S.G. Run 122: Area, 4,594 acres. Half-yearly rent, £5 15s.
Weighted with £107 5s., for improvements which comprise wool-shed £50, storeroom £10, 26 chains subdivisional fencing £19 10s., and half value 74 chains boundary fencing, £27 15s. This sum is payable in cash or by a cash deposit of £7 5s., the balance to be secured by instalment mortgage to the State Advances Department, term 30 years, interest 6 per cent.
The run is situated in Wairau Valley, access being from Blenheim by good metalled road for thirty-five miles, thence by three miles of poor dray-track over the Wairau River. The majority of this country lies away from the sun and for the most part is thickly covered in fern and manuka with a slight sprinkling of danthonia on the lower slopes. Near the tops poor bush is prevalent. The tops are rock bound and subject to snow in winter. There are several acres of river flats, poor and covered with scab weed, and on account of stones cannot be effectively cultivated.
This run has previously been worked in conjunction with the run adjoining No. 123, and together carried approximately 800 sheep.
This property rises to an altitude of approximately 4,500 ft. The whole run is very broken, but well watered.
Patriarch and Mount Olympus Survey District.
S.G. Run 123: Area, 4,625 acres. Half-yearly rent, £8 13s. 6d.
Weighted with £486 5s., for improvements comprising three-roomed house (old and in poor condition) £60, stable and yard £40, dip and yards £25, whare £20, wool-shed (old poor order) £30, water-race £25, 100 chains drains £50, half value of 63 chains boundary fences £15 15s., 294 chains internal fences £220 10s. This sum is payable in cash or by a cash deposit of £96 5s., the balance (£390) to be secured by instalment mortgage to the State Advances Department, term thirty years, interest 6 per cent.
The run is situated in Wairau Valley, access being from Blenheim by good metalled road for thirty-five miles, thence by three miles of poor dray-track over the Wairau River. It is considered that about 50 acres is good ploughable country and with further draining would grow good crops. This run has previously been worked in conjunction with Run 122, and together carried approximately 800 sheep.
With the exception of the 50 acres ploughable flats the run lies away from the sun, the lower slopes being thickly covered with manuka scrub and fern with a slight sprinkling of danthonia.
Towards the tops poor bush is prevalent and the actus tops are rock bound and subject to heavy falls of snow. This property rises to an altitude of approximately 4,000 ft. Full particulars may be obtained at this office.
