ADMIRALTY CHARTS.
New Method of inserting Tidal Stream Information.
Details : The following procedure will be employed in
future to show Tidal Streams' information on all new charts
and new Editions of charts :
(1) All information relating to Tidal Streams, whether in
the form of tables, or notes giving times of slack
waters and rates of streams, will in future be collected
at a convenient place on the chart, and referred to
by means of a special symbol thus, at the posi-
tions for which Tidal Stream information is given.
The letter in the diamond gives the reference to the
stream information.
(2) No Tidal Stream information other than this symbol
will ever be inserted amongst the soundings, except
references to eddies.
(3) The use of Tidal Stream arrows will be discontinued.
(4) On chart No. 5011 the following note is to be inserted
under the heading ""Tides and Tidal Streams"" and
immediately above H.W.F. & C. IXh 25m, &c.

occupied by these symbols.

(1) Haano Island : Alteration in Light.
Position : Lat. 19° 39' S., long. 174° 18' W. (approx.).
Abridged description : Fl. ev. 5 sec. 10 M. (U.).
Alteration : The period is to be altered from every three
to every five seconds, and the visibility from eight to ten
miles. The elevation is not to be shown. The structure is
a steel tower, 45 ft. (13m7) in height.
(2) Hakau Loa : Light established.
Position : 12.25 cables 262° from Pangai Observation
Spot +. Lat. 19° 49' S., long. 174° 22' W. (approx.).
Abridged description : Fl. ev. 3 sec. 5 M. (P.A.).
Character : Flashing white every three seconds. Visibility,
5 miles.
Structure : Circular concrete tower, steel superstructure,
22 ft. (6m7) in height.
Remarks : The position is approximate.
